Big mediterranean blue doors lead from the canal side front sitting garden to the ground floor sitting and living area. This is a lovely space which catches the morning sun and has gorgeous double french doors which lead straight out onto a pretty terrace which overlooks the private garden and pool. Here there is an outside dining area and BBQ.
On this floor there are two comfortable sofas, a large antique pine table and chairs seating six.
Charming painted wooden stairs lead up to the first floor, or middle floor sitting room with a pretty small settee facing the wonderful view of the canal du Midi and the ancient bridge of Somail - one of the most photographed in the area. In this room is a reading corner made up of a single bed which can also be made up if necessary.
Off the middle sitting room is a double bedroom with a double bed and an en suite bathroom-shower, wc, basin . This room gets the morning light. A painted chest of drawers gives storage, and there are hanging pegs and a hanging frame.
Original stairs then lead off the middle sitting room to the top bedroom. This is an L shaped room with a queen size double bed, an en suite bathroom with a small but perfect roll top bath, shower taps, heated towel rail, wc, basin, antique terracotta floor. Tucked away on the L shape is one extra single bed, which also has a screen for privacy.
To the front of the room, two pretty windows overlook the canal views.
A small rattan hanging cupboard and a chest of drawers give plenty of storage.
Travel cot available.
The kitchen is equipped with gas hob, electric oven, fridge, dishwasher.
Storage is provided in a painted cupboard, and on the large shelf running above.
Wooden surfaces, well equipped, toaster. Large pine table with easy seating for 6, the terrace doors lead to another dining area, directly off the kitchen, with a shaded large table, again seating for 6, and a bbq.
There are two living rooms - the one upstairs has a small settee, and a daybed, wonderful for watching one of the most photographed views on the canal du Midi.
Stairs from this floor lead to top master bedroom. The second bedroom with it's en suite is off this floor.
Wooden stairs lead down from the middle living room to the ground floor kitchen and living room, which has two lovely comfortable settees, and doors to the front of the property and to the private terrace.
The top floor bedroom is a quite large, and L shaped with two windows to the canal view. It has a queen size bed, with antique terracotta floors and and ensuite bathroom.
There is a single bed in an alcove, with a painted privacy screen.
The second bedroom is smaller, on the middle floor, with views across the garden, double bed and en suite shower room with loo. This room gets wonderful morning light.
The top bathroom is ensuite in an L shape in the master bedroom. It has a small roll top bath with shower taps, sink and loo.
The second bathroom is en suite to the second bedroom, with shower, sink and loo.
Heating is by woodburner and oil filled radiators.
Large garden with hammocks, olive trees, lemon tree, gravel cactus garden, three large areas of decking around a good sized pool with lots of teak cushioned loungers.
Private parking provided, or parking outside on the road generally available.
This property has two staircases, and therefore we regret probably not suitable for those of limited mobility.
I have lived in the area for ten years, and restored these two properties throughout over the last few years.

|Why this location?||It is a very beautiful location on the banks of the famous Canal du Midi. Le Somail is known as one of the prettiest canalised villages and I love the beauty of it, as well as the great restaurants and the chance to walk or cycle along canal paths. In addition, it's just 30 minutes drive to the beaches of South West France, and twenty minutes to the Corbieres. There is loads to explore - you can even drive to a ski resort for the day in the winter, and Spain is an hour away. Also we are very well connected with airports, so getting here is easy.|
|Unique benefits of property||My property is peaceful, charming and romantic and has a lovely garden and pool with hammocks and loungers, and is also a great spot to sit in the private front garden and watch the boats go by. Great restaurants are very close, and Jazz is played every wednesday in the summer.|
