After leaving the Uk to work on private motor yachts for 10 years, I didn't wish to return, and instead I chose to settle in France. I bought the house in 2005 and spent several years renovating it as a private home. In 2009 I decided to offer the house for rental and was delighted when guests fell in love with the house, terrace and the stunning views as much as I did! Some guests return year after year as I hope you will.

The region of Languedoc is an undiscovered gem. Bordering the Mediterranean coastline, the snow capped mountains of the Pyrenees and the rugged hills of the Massif central, this wonderfully diverse and stunning region offers the perfect holiday destination with something for everyone to enjoy.
The countryside around the local area is stunningly beautiful, surrounded by hilltop Cathar castles, picture postcard villages and views so breathtaking that Van Gogh, Matisse and Cezanne all came here to paint masterpieces. Beautiful red poppies grow wild in the spring, followed by fields of sunflowers in the main summer months.
Wine making is the main industry of Languedoc and there are fields of vineyards as far as the eye can see. The region's rich and interesting history and beautiful rugged terrains offer interesting and exciting days out, from visiting beautiful abbeys and cathedrals, to wine tasting, golf and adventure parks.
Where to eat and shop!
Fresh bread, pastries and basic provisions can be purchased from the village bakery / mini-mart located just a two minutes’ walk from the house. Within a few minutes walk you'll find a friendly terrace bar serving drinks and basic lunches and a nice village restaurant serving more gourmet lunches and dinners. Additionally, local wine is available from our village cave and a mobile pizza van stops in the village twice a week. We also have a post office and hairdressers.
At the nearby town of Trebes, which is a mere eight minute drive away, you will find a great variety of bars and restaurants from pizzerias to fish restaurants and many amenities including three supermarkets, chemists, doctors, banks and a tourist information office. We also offer a welcome book and activities guide to provide you with more detailed information and recommendations on where to eat and drink in the area!
Fantastic property, well located and very clean.
We had a lovely week in at Mountain View. It's a beautiful apartment in the sleepy town of Marseillette with a great view over the vines and fields. The apartment is fully kitted out (with microwave, cooker, washing machine, TV, wifi, barbeque, etc), and everything is clean and kept in good repair. There is a lovely balcony, with a covering canopy (and parasols), table and chairs, which we sat out on every evening.
We were given an excellent welcome by the owner Andrea, who provided many useful and thoughtful items (e.g. baby cot, bath toys, stair gate, etc) so we didn't have to bring them. She also provided some welcome snacks (bread, butter, cheese, and pate) and a bottle of bubbly so we didn't need to rush out and shop for food the moment we arrived.
Marseillette is a small town with a handful of shops (bakery, butchers, hairdresser, doctor's surgery, and a bar), so you'll definitely need a car to get around. The nearest supermarket is Trebes which is about 10 minutes away. Trebes also has some nice restaurants by the canal.
We had a lovely time at Mountain View and would fully recommend it to anyone.
We stayed for 2 weeks and had a great holiday. Mountain View really lives up to its name with fabulous and far reaching views. The terrace is sunny all day and a great place to watch the swallows and other birds, relax and sunbathe. The house is light and airy, beautifully done, very well equipped and comfortable and a perfect base to explore this beautiful region - its very easy to get to many lovely places such as Carcassone, Lagrasse and Minerve. You also have the Canal du Midi on your doorstep - which is a great place to walk or cycle. Our dog loved chasing the ducks and watching the boats! It really is a great location.
Trebes is really useful for shopping etc, and the restaurants are good. Marseillette itself has a good bakery and the locals are very friendly.
Andrea was a brilliant host - really kind, considerate and super helpful. She goes out of her way to make sure you are happy and she made us feel really welcome. We will definitely come back if we get the opportunity. I highly recommend this property - it wont disappoint you.
