About this property

Tastefully Restored Wine Domaine, Pool, Sleeps 10. This villa is in a village setting.

A spacious and tastefully renovated house with swimming pool, located in the serene village of Ferrals-les-Corbieres, between Narbonne and Carcassonne, in the South of France. Domaine de Graffan is more than just a rental property. This is home from home. As such it is presented with the thought and comfort of a 12 month residence.

We can easily accommodate 2 families as the house lay out allows for independent upstairs living. The 2 sides of the house are approached from two staircases at either end. However, for one large family or group the upstairs is easily linked. The house is equally pleasing and intimate enough for a small family.

Features

Accommodation offered for up to 10 guests plus a travel cot for a small child
Six bedrooms
Spacious living area
Outside dining terrace
8m x 4m swimming pool with relaxing sunloungers ( not heated )
Superb quiet location with excellent amenities
Maximum of 2 pets welcome.

The house sits in the midst of the beautiful, friendly, quiet village of Ferrals. The village has 2 boulangeries, one of which doubles up as a pizza takeaway in the evenings, a small but very well stocked village store, Tabac and Post Office, a restaurant, and a seasonal cafe bar which sometimes serves food.

Before buying Domaine de Graffan we spent many years renting properties in the area. Very often we found the large beautiful properties with landscaped gardens were enjoyed at the expense of the location. With large family groups one needs not to have to get in the car to go for bread, a glass of wine, a restaurant meal, a pizza takeaway, to play tennis/football or visit the local supermarket….and most importantly the local wine Cave!

When we found Graffan its location within a village was a real selling point for us. The locals are very friendly, and VERY French. The little centre is a hive of activity in the mornings but the village seems to sleep in the afternoons, affording the peace and quiet we so often crave. When playing in the garden or music we ask all guests to be respectful of this quiet time. The local wine Cave is literally opposite our gate (and was once part of our Domaine). This carries a good range of local wines now marketed under the D’Orfee name – combining the local Caves of Ferrals and Ornaison since 2008. Infact the Graffan 2009 Rose is an award winner. They will be delighted to host a tasting in July and August for the summer guests.

The annual village fete is a 4 night party held in the village with live music and fair ground rides for the youngsters. This is usually the weekend around the 25th August and for the guests of that week it provides a real taste of French entertainment!

The tracks through the vineyards are open to all and provide miles of biking, running and walking with breath taking views and provide an easy 20 min off road route to the next village of Fabrazan where there are bars/restaurants and the local Pharmacy…all this before you even venture out in the car to explore the other beautiful villages and ancient towns of the Corbiere.

Kitchen and dining

The kitchen and utility rooms provide exactly what you would expect to find and both are fully serviced, with all the pots and pans to cook up a culinary delight.

Where does all the salt go? Whenever we have rented property in the past it is the question we never resolved! Often we have arrived to a completely empty kitchen. Our kitchen is equipped with the basics (and often more) that you would expect to find in your home kitchen.

There is a dinning table in the lounge which seats 10 and a large table and chairs on the terrace for al fresco dining.

A washing line….and enough pegs!

Living rooms

Downstairs there is a large living/sitting room with a comfortable leather suite and large dining room table. There is also a Grand piano for those with talent – either hidden or practiced.

The second sitting room, known as ‘The Snug’, is a smaller cosier room. Perfect for reading the papers, a nap, or simply having some quiet time.

This homely property offers accommodation for up to 10 guests in 6 bedrooms. Comprising 4 doubles, 1 twin, and a 6th bedroom which has a childs sleigh bed and a single bed - and can be interconnected to the master bedroom.

Bathrooms

Often everyone ends up using just one shower…the best one! Here at Graffan all x3 showers have been replaced in recent years and have been commented on by clients and friends alike. In addition to the showers there is plenty of shelving to put things in the bathrooms – another essential for me!
There is a also a big clawed bath in the en suite bathroom for piling in the little ones en masse.
