Rural though not remote, Millepetit is located in a superb position on a meandering and photogenic stretch of the world famous Canal du Midi. The Cottage is on a working farm in the original stable block set one row back (about 50m) from the Canal. It is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and apricot orchards.
The Cottage is 53m2 and a delightful hideaway as a bolt hole for discovering the Languedoc Region. It is ideal for 2 guests.
In the evenings enjoy a relaxed dinner in your private courtyard, or take your wine and supper down to the Canal side terraces (50m).
The ground floor "highlight" is the stylish and “cook’s kitchen” and diner. It is well appointed with an oven and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and a family size fridge-freezer. There is also a washing machine and plenty of storage space.
The kitchen has everything you need to enable you to enjoy the wonderful local seasonal produce which can be sourced from the Domaine's own market garden or the colourful food markets at Trèbes or Carcassonne.
The lounge has tv and wi-fi internet and up a few steps you will find a completely private outdoor courtyard with bbq - ideal for a peaceful breakfast or an afternoon snooze.
The bedroom is at the top of the stairs and is provided with a double bed with under-bed storage, bedside cabinets with lamps, a wardrobe and chest of drawers. There are views of the canal and the Alaric Mountains from the bedroom window.
The bathroom is located on the ground floor and comprises a walk in shower, sink and toilet.
The cottage is a summer rental and requires no heating in Le sud de France!
A fan is provided for the summer and there are fly screens on the windows and front door.
Our local wind bar, Vin de Bacchus, at Trèbes provides a wonderful setting beside the Canal Port with theri own wines, tapas and a great selection of spirits and local wines. It is a 40min walk or 15 min cycle along the Canal.
By the canal you have access to two communal terraces with tables, chairs and parasols and a charming mooring and herb garden – perfect place to watch life on the Canal pass you by while sipping a glass of local Millepetit Rosé!
There is a private terrace behind the apartment accessed through the lounge room which has table and chairs and a gas BBQ.
Free parking is provided on the road in front of the Cottage.
The cottage is over 2 floors with stairs and hence not suitable for wheelchair access.
Bed linen, bath, hand and tea towels are all provided and tea and coffee making facilities are included. Guests can purchase Millepetit's wine from our neighbour's kitchen and seasonal vegetables from the market gardener's barn. This is a rural working farm with daily activities as they prepare for harvest and planting each season.
Your hosts, Heather and David will welcome you on arrival and provide you with all of the information you need to enjoy this unique and beautiful area.<br/><br/>If you share our great love of food and wine you may be interested in our cooking classes in season.<br/><br/>We are happy to accept well behaved pets however, do be aware that there are a couple of farm dogs, the occasional goat, a couple of geese and many ducks!

|Why this location?||We are only 50m from the Canal du Midi and only 12 kms from Carcassonne by road and 1 hr by bike. Millepetit is a picturesque wine producing Domaine on the Canal du Midi UNESCO World Heritage site, (which featured very briefly in TV chef Rick Steins’ ‘French Odyssey’ in 2004.) The estate is dominated by the Chateau and a 13C tower overlooking the Canal.
We are an ideal base for visiting the Languedoc region; cycling; walking; and experiencing life on a working French vineyard and farm.

Cross our little bridge over the Canal du Midi and you will be on a 240km canal path. You can cycle to Carcassonne in about 1hr 30min or .walk to the lovely port of Trebes in about 45min. There are formal bike hire operators in Trebes and Carcassonne and we offer our personal bikes for the casual rider to pop up to the bakery in Trebes or Marseillette - 20min by bike.
Located at Millepetit you will enjoy a mix of hands-on cooking classes with food and wine tastings and skills demonstrations. We share timeless methods, useful skills and simple tips to enable you to create classic French cuisine with a modern twist!
Then relax under the shade of the Canal du Midi's iconic plane trees and enjoy the delicious three course lunch you have prepared with perfectly matched local wines.

Carcassonne is only 20min drive from Millepetit. It is a hilltop town which is famous for its medieval citadel, La Cité, with numerous watchtowers and double-walled fortifications. The first walls were built in Gallo-Roman times, with major additions made in the 13th and 14th centuries. Château Comtal, a 12th-century castle within the Cité, offers archaeological exhibits and a tour of the inner ramparts.
