The Owner Recommends

Carcassonne

Visit the famous UNESCO world heritage site of Carcassonne medieval city. Take a tour of the ramparts, visit several museums, browse the many interesting and unique shops within the castle walls and then sit relax and watch the world go by in one of the lovely restaurants. Once you have seen the castle, take a walk or a boat trip on the beautiful Canal du Midi.

Outdoor activities

There are many activities of the more adventurous such as whitewater rafting, assault courses through the tree tops, climbing, quad bike safaris or canyoning. The area has many caves which are worth exploring, ranging from tourist attractions through to some quite challenging expeditions. Walking hiking and cycling routes for all levels.

Wine tours and wine tastings

The village is surrounded by vineyards and wineries. You have the choice of following local wine trails around Limoux, where the famous sparkling wines are made or the lesser known but increasing more appreciated wines of the Malepere. Drive just to the east and you come across the famous areas of the Corbière or Minervois.

One of our favourites is a Segway tour of the vines which is just 20 minutes away by car.

Limoux

The town of Limoux is a lively place, known locally as the party capital of the region as it host many fetes and festivals throughout the year. It is also home to an ancient and delicious sparkling wine. The main square has several restaurants, ranging in price from simple bistrots to fine dining. There is always something interesting going on here.
