About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr Eric Buisson

I am 89 years of age and I married a French girl when I was 23 and we lived in England during the whole of my working period as a research chemist. We purchased the land for our French house in 1981 and the house was built in 1982. We retired early in 1986 and moved to France the same year.

Year property purchased 1981

The Owner Recommends

Ancient walled city.

Grotte de Clamousse

Guided visits in English. Famous for it's unique crystals of Aragonite.

Herault River

Wild river gorges canoe hire swimming.

La Couvertoirade

Ancient walled city of The Knights Templars.

Lac de Salagou

Large fresh water lake situated 12km from Lesoleanders. Ideal for non motorised water sports.

Mediterranean coast and Etang de Thau

There are numerous coastal ports and resorts to visit or spend a day on the beach. For example Sete is well known as a commercial and fishing port with numerous sea-food restaurants. For seafood I would personally recommend Meze which is more intimate. For a day at the beach I would recommend Marseillan Plage. Aigues Mortes, a walled city, adjacent to the exploted salt pans is worth a whole day visit. If you have time you can visit the Camargue but I would suggest you plan a special visit if you are interested in wildlife.

Montpellier is a dynamic university city which merits at least one whole day visit which can include a guided tour in English. There is a superb shopping centre for your purchases. To visit Montpellier I suggest you drive to the edge of Montpellier and park the car at the well-indicated Mosson Parking. It will cost just 4 Euros for the parking and it includes return tramway tickets for driver and all passengers.

Artisanal centre. Famous for Moliere and Clive of India.

Roquefort Caves

Famous caves where Roquefort cheese is made. Guided tours in English followed by tasting.

Spanish Border

La Jonquera is a 2 hour drive away.

St Guilhem le Desert

World Heritage site.

The accommodation was just as described and was what we were expecting. The owner was on hand to offer lots of local advice and to ensure that we had all that we needed and couldn’t be more helpful to make sure we had a wonderful holiday.

Highly recommended for a complete break without any worries as owner available at all times but not intrusive of your space.

Eric was a great host, the property had everything we needed for our stay including books, games & dvds. The surrounding area was beautiful and we enjoyed Running and walking through the vineyards around the village. The property has an area for eating around the back and a great pool area for sunbathing, the pool was beautifully clean and well maintained and we really enjoyed the lazy days in the sun out there. The property is a little eclectic but has a real charm which coupled with a great host made it a really enjoyable week.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Les Oleanders - the swimming pool was a lifesaver during some particularly hot weather! Eric and Nicole were lovely and warm hosts and Eric's knowledge of the local area was very useful indeed! The property was very well maintained and very clean. The village is beautiful and quiet however very easy access to all the surrounding area. We enjoyed kayaking on Lake Salagou, cycling and exploring the local sights - the beautiful city of Montpellier, La Couvertoirade and Grotte de Clamousse.
All in all a wonderful holiday!

Great couple of weeks spent here. Small and comfortable accommodation with second bedroom(tower) separate from the main accommodation. Compact main kitchen, living and bedroom area with owners living directly above. Private patio area and BBQ. Excellent swimming pool. Well equipped in general. Great value for money in beautiful setting. Mediterranean beaches 45mins by car. River beaches and bathing close by. Great area for walking when not too hot.
Would revisit.
Suitable for families with slightly older kids because of setup and second bedroom separate from main living area and out of earshot.
