Ancient walled city of The Knights Templars.
Large fresh water lake situated 12km from Lesoleanders. Ideal for non motorised water sports.
There are numerous coastal ports and resorts to visit or spend a day on the beach. For example Sete is well known as a commercial and fishing port with numerous sea-food restaurants. For seafood I would personally recommend Meze which is more intimate. For a day at the beach I would recommend Marseillan Plage. Aigues Mortes, a walled city, adjacent to the exploted salt pans is worth a whole day visit. If you have time you can visit the Camargue but I would suggest you plan a special visit if you are interested in wildlife.
Montpellier is a dynamic university city which merits at least one whole day visit which can include a guided tour in English. There is a superb shopping centre for your purchases. To visit Montpellier I suggest you drive to the edge of Montpellier and park the car at the well-indicated Mosson Parking. It will cost just 4 Euros for the parking and it includes return tramway tickets for driver and all passengers.
Artisanal centre. Famous for Moliere and Clive of India.
Famous caves where Roquefort cheese is made. Guided tours in English followed by tasting.
La Jonquera is a 2 hour drive away.
World Heritage site.
Eric and Nicole made us feel very welcome.
We arrived on a public holiday and all the supermarkets were closed, but the raided their own larder for us.
The excellent swimming pool (8 meters x 4 meters ) was maintained in pristine condition by a very diligent Eric.
All in all an excellent holiday.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Les Oleanders. Eric is a good and knowledgeable host. His knowledge of the area is excellent and although he lives on the property he is not intrusive, just checks in now and again to make sure all is well. The condition in which he keeps the pool is extremely good.
I would happily recommend this property to friends, and I would be happy to return.
Excellent time, gite and host really great most welcoming
Eric was very welcoming and helpful. It was great to be able to use the swimming pool whenever we wanted to and it made a great end to the day.
Lots of places to visit - Pezenas, Sete, Villeneuvette, Montpelier all within easy distance.
The local Cave in St Felix produces some good wine, and we also bought from the Chateau in Joncquieres which is excellent.
