Built in the 18th Century as part of Cesseras Chateau this former winery has recently been refurbished to a high modern standard while retaining the memories of days gone by.
The spacious 3 Bedroom house is in the heart of the village a short walk to the shop and bar. With its two secluded courtyards offering, privacy and shade throughout the day and a pool to cool down in after a long day exploring the sights of the area, it has all the comforts of home for a relaxing and memorable stay.
Cesseras is a small medieval unspoilt French village nestled in the lush vineyards of the Herault, Languedoc Roussillon within sight of the foothills of the Black Mountains. Less than ten minutes’ drive from the Canal du Midi it is an ideal base for exploring the area that has so much to offer the discerning holidaymaker. Whether you want to walk, bike, cruise, explore or just sit in the sun you will be spoilt for choice.
The kitchen is fully equipped to modern standards to enable you to cook a family meal and has plenty of crockery and utensils. The scullery hosts a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble-dryer. Having prepared you meal you will be spoilt for choice of where to eat it. In the more formal dining area at the table or outside in the courtyard which is ideal for those long summer nights eating al-fresco. If you don’t want to cook in the kitchen there is always the bbq.
The living area is of a good size and has two 3 seater settees where you can relax with a good book, watch some tv or play games. There are plenty of dvds to entertain you and you have access to Netflix for 100s of other films or shows.
During the winter months curl up in-front of the log burning fire. For winter lets you will find some logs to start you off, further supplies can be purchased in the local supermarkets.
It will not matter which of the 3 bedrooms you sleep in all our rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished to the same high comfortable standard.
The master bedroom has a king size bed, en suite and walk-in cupboard.
There is enough room to add a second bed or cot for a child. (Additional charges apply for more than 6 guests)
The second room has a queen bed and direct access to the family bathroom.
Room three is equipped with 2 large single beds ideal for the children or single adults.

Downstairs there is a toilet just off the lounge and upstairs the master bedroom has both a shower and bath, while the family bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink.
There is a wood burning stove in the lounge while the rest of the house has convector electric heaters.
The whole house has wi-fi so you are welcome to bring your internet enabled equipment to keep you entertained and in-touch with the world.
In the lounge there is a flat screen tv which has Internet tv and radio. Some local French speaking stations will also be found.

We have a good selection of entertainment on dvd.
A small library of book is available along with some board games and cards.
The house has a courtyard both front and rear. At the front you will find the pool and sun bathing area and to the rear a secluded walled seating and eating area that affords some good shade in the summer months. A bbq and large dinning table makes eating alfresco easy!!
The nearest parking is in the free car park some 200m from the house next to the village church or on the next road over from the house. As the house is in a cul-de-sac (Impasse) it is not possible to park out the front of the house but unloading/loading is not a problem.
Ideal for discerning family groups who love exploring and immersing into the cultural life of the places they visit or those wanting some peace and quite to relax and unwind.
Children welcome supervision needed due to stairs and pool location at the front of the house.
Not suitable for Hen or Stag parties.
The private pool to the front of the house is 5m long and 1.2m in depth throughout. As there is no shallow end, children should be supervised at all times and have a reasonable swimming ability.
My wife and I have had a number of years in the hospitality business and we pride ourselves on putting together rental properties that are of a high standard with all that you will need for a comfortable and memorable stay. Minerve: Just 8.5km away through some wonderful scenery sits the old Cathars village of Minerve in the impressive gorge of Brian. The scene of a bloody massacre in the 12th Century and a siege this little village today plays host to a new siege in the summer months that of tourists. The setting is wonderful in itself, but add the history and the welcome you will find here and you have the makings of a great day out exploring and resting awhile in one of the many watering holes.
Olonzac: The nearest larger town to Cesseras (5km) and the Capital of the Minervois, Olonzac has a good variety of shops and a large supermarket. The main street also has a good café culture with a number of sidewalk coffee shops and eateries. On a Tuesday in the summer the village plays host to a large general market and a good food market, it is somewhat paired down in the winter
Homps: 10k from Cesseras passed Olonzac the town of Homps is a tourist haven with a Port on the Canal du Midi and a large swimming lake with water sports and plenty of space for sunbathing. You can sit in one of the many canal side cafes and enjoy a coffee or Ice cream while watching the boats sailing by. If you fancy taking to the water, then a 2hr Informative Canal boat trip starts from the Information centre on the canal side. Lac (Lake) Jouarres can be found on the Olonzac side of the canal at the edge of Homps. Ideal for a morning or afternoon by or on the water.
Narbonne & Narbonne Plage: 35K away, Narbonne is a good place to shop and has two markets a week plus and indoor food market which is ideal for seeing all the food trades at their best with a large range fruit, veg meat and fish on display or to indulge in a spot of lunch. A walk through the streets and squares that make up the centre of the city and you will come across many interesting sites like the cathedral, Roman road remains and the Canal. Art and Music play an important part in the life of this city as well. A few Kilometres from the city and Narbonne Plage is your nearest French Seaside experience. With its long sandy beach and shallow sea without any stones it is a great place for a family day out.
There is a lot to see and do here with La Cite being a major attraction and a great day out for all ages. For the younger visitors it is a Princess castle or a fort and for the more mature guests a great example of medieval history well preserved and restored. This World Heritage site have a lot to offer. Why not start your visit off with a 20 min trip on the land train that is not only informative but gives you a different view of the cite. The ramparts self-guided tour is also a must but maybe not so interesting for small children. The Basilica of Saint Nazaire with some wonderful stain glass windows is a must see while in the cite. There are also plenty of streets to wander through with interesting shops and restaurants.
La Somail: is a picturesque village on the banks of the Canal du Midi where there you can take to the water on a small electric self-drive boat for as little time as half an hour or take a bigger guided tour. There is an abundance of restaurants with tables right on the banks of the canal for a light lunch or a more formal supper. Why not pack a picnic for a do it yourself lunch under a shady tree. The tow path is also ideal for a nice stroll or a cycle along this pretty section of the canal.
With Cesseras as your base, why not spend a few days exploring the area on a bike, there are miles of quiet roads and paths that meander through the vineyards, along canals and waterways of the area. Stop now and again for a coffee or a bite to eat… just perfect!!
A lovely property with lots to keep you entertained. The house is thoughtfully furnished and everything is of a good standard. The local area has lots to do and the information is informative at the property. The pool is cold but on hot days it's very refreshing!!
