Here in the Languedoc there is something for everybody, from wine tasting and sunbathing to walking, rock climbing, cycling, canoeing, fishing and horse riding.
The landscape in the area can change within a twenty minute drive from the lovely olive, apricot, peach and almond groves and vineyards which surround the Canal du Midi to the amazing hilly wildness of the Corbieries and the great views of the Garrigue which are all great to explore by car, foot, bike or horseback. And lets not forget that you are also within a 30 – 40 minute drive of a day or an afternoon on one of the lovely beaches of the Mediterranean coast.
Our bigger towns of Narbonne and Beziers both have beautiful historic centres with magnificent cathedrals, museums, and excellent food and general markets, shops and restaurants. The region also boasts the beautiful La Cité Carcassonne where the ancient winding lanes and alleys are lined with shops and restaurants. It is said that Walt Disney based the castle in the film Snow White on the stunning castle of Carcassonne, and when you see it you’ll know why.
Steeped in Cathar history the area also has the wonderful Corbieres to explore with ancient castles like Font Froide – simply breathtaking.
All our villas and gites are a thirty or forty minute drive from the Mediterranean beaches of the South of France. Beaches like the chalet beach at Gruissan, where Betty Blue was filmed, Leucate and La Franqui where kite and windsurfing is popular, as well as the family beaches of Narbonne Plage and Valras, and closer to Bezier, Agde. You’ll find the best oysters at many of these places – locally gown and caught, great to eat in the small shacks which provide them, with a view of the sea and a glass of local white. You’ll also enjoy the coastal restaurants with their local produce and seafood.
The nearby regions of Minervois, St Chinian and Corbiere all produce great wines to suit every pocket, and you can wine taste in many of the local
