Set over 4 floors, this lovely home from home comes fully equipped. From the ground floor "cave" with washing machines, tumble dryers and beachy stuff, to the wonderful terrace on the fourth floor, with chairs, tables and sun beds, via the spacious lounge with log burner and English tv, kitchen diner, 3 spacious double bedrooms, large twin bedroom and 3 full modern bath/shower rooms. And you can check your emails on the terrace with the wireless wifi whilst gazing across the Etang.
On the terrace is a useful fridge and barbecue, with views over the terracotta rooftops and beyond to the Med. Set in the old part of the town, with narrow roads and cobbled streets, this 200 year old vigneron's house is in the lovely fishing village of Meze, on the shores of the Etang de Thau, where probably the best mussels and oysters in the world are grown.
The village is surrounded by vineyards on one side and the lake on the other, and the house is just 200m from the beach, 200m from the port, 100m from the market. Wine tasting from some great local vineyards is on your doorstep. Meze is only half an hour from France's best loved city, Montpellier, or the Canal du Midi: under an hour from Nimes and Arles, an hour and a half from world heritage site Carcassonne, the artist's haven of Collioure or Lautrec's Albi, a couple of hours from walking or skiing in the Pyrenees.
If you don't want to go anywhere everything is on your doorstep: oysters, mussels, wine, great local fruit and vegtables from the twice weekly markets, as well as concerts throughout the summer months, are all within easy walking distance. There's a sailing school in Meze as well as wind and kite surfing, a cinema, and horse riding, golf and tennis nearby. Or just relax on the terrace with a glass of wine and let the world go by.
There is a modern kitchen with hob and oven, fridge, toaster, kettle and plenty of cutlery, glasses, utensils etc. There is also a fridge and built in barbecue on the terrace.
A comfortable airy sitting room with tv.
Four bedrooms, 3 doubles and a twin.
Three modern bathrooms, 2 with a bath and shower and one on the ground floor for "after beach" showering.
There are radiators on the living room floor, a log burner in the living room and electric radiators in the other bedrooms.
A tv in the livin groom, lots of books and boardgames and dvds.
A beautiful roof terrace with sun loungers, table and chairs, umbrella, barbecue and fridge.
We are in the narrow old part of the town, hence there is no parking outside. However there is plenty of free parking from about 50m. We have always found a parking place even on market day in August.
The house is on 4 floors, so there a quite a few stairs, one set steep, also the terrace has a low wall so we don't accept children under 5.
The house has free wi-fi and either an air conditioning unit or fans.
Hi, We have owned our townhouse in the lovely fishing village of Meze for over 10 years. Although we live in the UK we try and get there as often as possible. I am an art dealer and my wife is a lawyer, we have 2 grown up sons.

|Why this location?||This is unspoilt France, we are 200m from the beautiful Etang de Thau, a 28km long sea fed lake seperated from the Med by a 100m strip of land. The locals mostly work on the famous oyster beds or on the local vineyards. The weather is beautiful in Spring, Summer and Autumn, and we have dined outside in shirt sleeves in November! We are located in the narrow streets of the Old Town, 100m from the market and numerous shops, cafes and restaurants. This is a get away from it all place, very French, no discos or nightclubs.|
|Unique benefits of property||We have 4 good sized bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a beautiful roof terrace with views across the terracotta rooftops to the Etang and Med beyond. We are within a few hundred metres of 2 beaches, the port, shops, restaurants, watersports, tennis, cinema, and the market. We are half an hour from Beziers and Montpellier airports.|
Two beautiful beaches a couple of hundred metres from the house, they are safe, clean and child friendly.
This is real France, local, fresh, in season produce. It's where to meet the locals and have a coffee or a drink in the square
Too numerous to mention by name, the port restaurants serve a wide range of fantastic seafood, especially oysters and mussels, as well as traditional French fare.
We are surrounded by dozens vineyards, including Domaine Les Yeuses and the Abbaye de Villemagne, all of whom are open year round for tastings.
A lovely off road walk to the famous oyster village of Bouzigues where you can visit the oyster museum and then sample Frances finest in the local restaurants.
A couple of km's away see the wonderful mosaics of this old villa
About half an hour away, the city that the French voted the place they would most want to live. It's vibrant, youthful with university students, great shops and the centre is pedestrianised.
Across the Etang, Sete is known as the Venice of France, a lovely town on the edge of the Med with great canals and wonderful seafood.
For the young ones, on the outskirts of Meze, fossils, and dinosaurs in a parkland setting.
A few km's away, hire a boat and picnic along the banks of this beautiful shaded waterway.
This Disney like town with perfect walls and turrets is a must, about an hour and a half away.
