Spacious, but cosy, 5 bedroom, 2 bathroom, villa on 2 levels with all mod cons (central heating, dishwasher, washing machine, wi-fi, tv etc.) located in a stunning part of the Haut Languedoc National Park and on the edge of an elegant spa town.
The house provides flexible accommodation for up to 9 people. The easily accessible ground floor area with its 2 double bedrooms, bathroom, living room and kitchenette can function as a separate apartment if required. The first floor accessed by external steps, provides 3 bedrooms (two doubles, one single), bathroom and open plan kitchen/dining room/lounge which leads through glass sliding doors to the patio behind. There is a private driveway to the house with parking for 3 cars, plus a garage (with table tennis). The patio is furnished with a table and 6 chairs and a brick barbecue to provide al fresco dining and a sun lounging area and, surrounded as it is by wooded gardens, is secluded. The first floor balcony to the front has seating and spectacular views over the surrounding hills – perfect for sipping a glass of the wonderful local Faugeres wine and watching the swallows soar and later the bats dive. Light streams into the house through the large glass doors which providing captivating views from the open plan living area. In the late autumn, winter and spring the wood burning stove in the lounge area provides cheer in the cooler evenings. From April to October the sun does the trick!
Located above the lively spa town of Lamalou les Bains in the Haut Languedoc National Park. 45 mins to Beziers airport, 1.30 to Carcassonne, 1hr to Montpelier, 50 mins to beach at Valras. In midst of the beautiful Orb Valley close to Olargues, Roquebrun with canoeing, fishing and safe swimming in the Orb from sandy river beaches. Lamalou has good restaurants and a great Salon de Thé with superb cakes. The surrounding area has outstanding cordon bleu ones. The town also has a supermarket, bakers, cinema, an open-air swimming pool with a toddlers’ pool, and a summer entertainment programme with dining and dancing in the streets on Thursday evenings. It also has a golf course and horse riding for all ages. You can also visit the town’s famous spa for various health inducing programmes. There is great hiking in the mountains above the house and up the impressive Gorges d’ Heric into the Espinouse mountains. There is safe cycling on Route Vert track which winds for miles through the countryside alongside the Orb following the old rail track cutting through the mountains (the house has 3 bikes available to guests). Local vineyards can be visited and wine tasted and bought. Kayaks can be hired at Tarrasac (15 mins) for the descent on the Orb to Roquebrun (8KM)
This is an ideal base for active family holidays, or simple relaxation, and the villa can successfully accommodate 2 families, or one extended family, or, indeed, a larger group of individuals.

Lively cultural and entertainment programme in Lamalou with weekly dances in square, theatre (musicals), bars (with music on Thursdays and weekends), cinema (often with English speaking movies), golf course, horse riding, canoeing. Classical concerts in the ancient St Pierre de Rhedes church. Full cultural programme in adjoining villages and towns such as Olargues and Bedarieux plus a major music festival in Sete in July and the Feria festival in Beziers in August (all details of events available in Lamalou Tourist Office).
