|Why this location?||Come and savor "la vie de château"! Six generations of the same family have lived here, and the house has been carefully restored to preserve the atmosphere of an authentic family home, but also includes modern requirements.|
|Unique benefits of property||Testimonial of a guest Asa : "I spent the second week of July 2010 at the Chateau d’Hortes, together with my family; my husband and our two girls aged around 7. We shared the Chateau with another family, so in total we were four adults and four kids. I can warmly recommend a stay at Hortes! For me, it’s the perfect combination and has everything one could wish for. The Chateau has a beautiful façade and lots of French country charm inside. It is well equipped (bathrooms, dishwasher etc), the beds are comfortable and if you need to do some work, the wireless LAN worked very well during our stay. Mobile reception is also good. But the best is maybe the huge terrace that overlooks the large and well-kept garden – perfect for meals and a glass of rosé. The pool area is secluded and the kids loved it (there’s space also for some beach tennis or the like). But the wide and white beach at Cap d’Agde is only a 10-15 minute drive away and there are beach cafés for relaxed lunches there....."|
You'll be choosing a lot of places to visit :
About 10 min drive away is the historical city of Pezenas, the town where Moliere found success. You can visit many sights: the old town with medieval burger-houses and town mansions of the 17th and 18th Centuries; collegial cloistered church St-Jean and a lot of museums. But also taste wine each Friday evening, listen to music concerts, and plays at the theatre, discover the artists' shops (engravers, bookbinders, painters, etc.). Pezenas nightlife comes alive on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
Many long and sandy beaches of the Languedoc region are within an easy 10/15 minutes drive, e.g. the famous sea resort of Cap d'Agde where there are a lot of water activities (sailing, surfing, scuba diving). Enjoy the famous Aqualand Park (the most popular aquatic park of UE) and choose from many fine beach restaurants. Or drive along the coast until the "Etang de Thau", stop to explore the charming and typical ports Marseillan or Bouzigues to taste oysters and mussels with a fruity chilled rosé wine.
The Medieval hamlet of "St Guilhem le Deserts In less one hour’s drive, with its Music Festival; the spectacular limestone caves "Grotte de Clamouse"; the city of Carcassonne less than an hour away; the animal sanctuary Sigean; or the Canal du Midi and its famous locks (Béziers 20 minutes away) that you can explore on foot or by renting a boat for the day (within 10 minutes from home). Montpellier and the Musée Fabre is less than one hour from home.
