About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Amanda Burrup

I am originally from the UK but am now lucky enough to be living full time with my partner Phil in this beautiful part of France.

I have a background in hotel marketing and owned three vacation villas in Florida for a time. Phil spent many years running hotels and then a pub, so between us we believe we understand the needs of travellers and holiday makers like you and aim to use our experience in the hospitality industry to provide you with the best possible stay.

Year property purchased 2008
Why this location? I bought the house of which Studio du Lac is part in 2008, and originally used it as a holiday home. I discovered Marseillan when I used to travel several times a year to the area to visit the international antiques fairs at Montpellier and Beziers. I was entranced by the relatively unspoilt nature of the town, and enjoyed discovering the area's amazing wines and delicious seafood.

The Owner Recommends

Food & drink must tries

Marseillan is a sea-food lover's dream........enjoy oysters straight from the Etang du Thau (raw or gratinated); a 'brasucaude' (mussels barbequed over a fire of vine wood, usually in a piquant sauce); sea bass, sea bream, sardines; stuffed squid and 'tielles' (pastry pies filled with a tasty mix of sea food in a tomato-ey sauce) which are the local specialities of Sete.

The whole area around Marseillan is renowned for its world-class wines. There are 2 wineries within a few minutes walk of the Studio, and many, many others a just a short drive away. Probably the most famous of the local wines is Picpoul de Pinet - a delicious white wine which is a perfect accompaniment to fish and seafood. All the wine producers offer free tastings.

The vermouth distillery Noilly-Prat is also within a few minutes walk......here you can have a tour of the distillery with tastings of the white, red and ambre vermouths.
