About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Wendy Davey

We took early retirement to follow our dream of living in France and it is everything and more of what we hoped for. We love music so the summertime festivals and live music in this area have been a real joy for us. Also this area means we are able to take coastal or moutain walks which is a real bonus.

Year property purchased 2014
Why this location? It chose us I think, we visited so many areas in France in search for the right place and this area was unknown to us so we hadn't focused on it at all, but whilst we were house hunting we decided on a day trip to the Pyrenees Orientale for a break and we were immediately seduced by the area. The sunshine, the light, the sea and the mountains all contributed to making the area very much a strong focus for our search for the perfect home. Then we saw Casa Sola and WOW we knew this was the place for us and the place we wanted to share with others.
Unique benefits of property The view. It is without doubt the thing that our guests love, whatever the time of year. It is a joy every day to see the mountains and the way they change through the seasons.
Additionally we have made the apartment very much a home from home for our guests, it is comfortable and well-equipped. With the private pool and terrace for guests as well as the private terrace leading from the apartment, guests have plenty of space to relax and enjoy staying at Casa Sola.

The Owner Recommends

Abbaye Saint Marie, Arles sur Tech

Hidden in the maze of the historic centre of Arles sur Tech is the historic Abbaye, with its charming cloisters and mysterious marble coffin that produces water, it really is worth a visit.

Ceret market

Saturday mornings in Ceret with the bustling, extensive market are a joy. There are a huge range of stalls selling locally produced items and when you want a break there is a good range of restaurants and bars to relax in too.

Les Gorges de la Fou

Open from April to November we highly recommend a visit to this natural gorge and only 5km from Casa Sola. It is the narrowest gorge in the world and provides fabulous views and interest during the walk to the top. We've taken children as young as 2 years old with us and they have certainly enjoyed it. On a hot day it is also a great place to take a cooling break. Sensible footwear is a must.

Collioure

A favourite of all our guests. A stunning fishing village with a rich history of art. You can understand why the likes of Picasso, Durain etc were drawn to this pretty place.

Domaine Sol Payre

Our favourite vineyard, a friendly and welcoming place to try their delicious wines. During the summer months you can have a lovely lunch sitting in the vineyard whilst drinking their superb wines. Booking is essential for the lunches.
