The Owner Recommends

Céret Town and Market

Céret dates back to Roman times and is bursting with history. More recently it has become a haven for artists and boasts its own Museum of Modern Art founded by Pierre Brune and displaying works by many famous impressionists including Pablo Picasso who lived in the town at certain periods of his life. Céret has many festivals including the Cherry festival at the end of May and Céret de Toros in July. Céret has numerous bars and restaurants serving Catalan, Spanish and French dishes. The Céret Saturday morning market is enormous and runs through several of the towns historic streets.

The Lake at St Jean

This lake is a swimming and water sports lake only a 10 minute drive from the property. It has a lovely café and restaurant and enjoys beautiful views of the mountains. There is also a tree top adventure course with zip wires and other activities. From the property drive on the main road through St Jean and follow signs for the "Plan D'eau".

Port Argeles

Port Argeles is an attractive modern marina with numerous fish restaurants and little shops. You can buy fresh fish daily from the local catch and there are many boat/fishing trips available down the coast to the border and beyond into Spain. The beginning of Argeles beach is accessible just over the bridge from the main port.

Collioure

A beautiful, historic, seaside town popular with artists. There are several beaches which have calm waters and where you can sit in seafront cafes for morning coffee, lunch or an evening apero watching the boats arrive from up and down the coast. There are many narrow, shopping streets where you can find interesting souvenirs to take back home.

The vineyards

These are everywhere on the road from the property to the sea and then all along the coast to the border. Just follow the signs!

Cadaques and the Costa Brava

Cadaques is a beautiful fishing village just 45 minutes from the property, at the beginning of the Costa Brava. Home to the Dali house, it is full of history and lovely white-washed buildings. Go very early in the height of summer to avoid queuing to drive down the hill.

Girona

Beautiful historic city about an hour from the property. Well worth a visit for the architecture and cafe culture.

Barcelona

Capital of Catalunya. All you would expect from a vibrant major city. Beach, port, city of historic buildings, Las Ramblas and top shopping and eating opportunities. 90 minutes by car.
