Casa Fuente Largo is a privately owned villa sitting on the apron of the mountains in the valley of Hondon de Los Frailes in the province of Alicante. The villa is detached with the nearest neighbours a few fields away. Casa Fuente Largo with its 5 air conditioned separate bedrooms and large lounge is the perfect place to stay and see the real Spain, yet only 40 minutes to the coast and beaches.
The villa is on 2 levels. Access to the ground floor can be via a large front door or through an equally large rear door. The ground level has a spacious lounge equipped with satellite television, dvd player and pellet burning fire. It shares the ground floor with a well equipped kitchen which is adjacent to the dining area. The villa is capable of taking up to 9 people in 5 separate bedrooms and there is plenty of comfortable seating in both the lounge and dining areas. Access to the second level, where there are 3 bedrooms is via a wide set of marble stairs at the rear of the lounge.There is a covered patio to the front overlooking the gardens, ideal for having breakfast in the early morning sun. If required, meals can be eaten in the secluded and peaceful courtyard area at the rear of the villa.
The villa is ideal for people with reduced mobility. There is a double bedroom, and a twin bedded room complete with a shower room on the ground floor, that is accessible without steps.
To keep the villa in a condition acceptable to all, we maintain a no smoking policy within the villa and we have to say no to pets.

Well equipped kitchen which is adjacent to the dining area microwave oven , gas oven, 7 gas rings, fridge-freezer, table and 2 chairs.

There is a utility area with washing machine, dishwasher, iron and ironing board.

Living rooms

The villa is on 2 levels. Access to the ground floor can be via a large front door or through an equally large rear door. The ground level has a spacious lounge equipped with television (Sky channels) dvd player and pellet burning fire. There is plenty of comfortable seating in both the lounge and dining areas.


All bedrooms are air conditioned. Upstairs the bedrooms are spacious, light and airy and have the benefit of balconies allowing outdoor relaxation within the confines of the bedroom areas. The villa is capable of taking up to 9 people in 5 separate bedrooms. There are 3 double bedrooms, 1 twin room with an en suite and 1 single bedroom.


There is a family shower room for the upstairs bedrooms and 2 other shower rooms in the house plus another outside by the pool.


Heating is by a pellet fire which is easy to maintain and to control. It is situated in the lounge and heats the whole house. Each bedroom has an air conditioning unit which blows hot or cold air and is controlled by the occupant of the room. The exception the single bedroom where the unit is on the landing outside the room, this unit also controls the flow of air in the living room on the ground floor.


Swimming pool private with views over the valley. No neighbours. There is a drinks fridge next to the pool also wc with hot water shower. Nine pin skittles in an eight metre alley - championship dart board - table tennis on a full size table - garden chess - quoits. for the 2017 season a badminton court will be installed. In the house satellite television - DVD player with about eighty DVDs - nearly a thousand books all types, there are also some indoor board games.

Garden and outside

There is a covered patio to the front overlooking the gardens ideal for breakfast in the early morning sun. On the first floor there is a balcony to the front and rear. There is a sun deck around the pool. In the courtyard a substantial barbeque in an outside kitchen. West Side has the garden chess set, whilst Ivy Corner is where the championship dart board is situated with standard rubber mat.

Secure parking to the front of the property for five cars.

Visitor suitability

Ideal for disabled persons, there is a double bedroom complete with a shower room on the ground floor, that is accessible without steps. Wheelchairs can be taken to the pool without steps. the kitchen is not suitable for wheelchair bound individuals as the worktops are at normal height.

The local shops in the village sell most day to day requirements, mostly Spanish but some English foods. A little further, there are shopping malls with a range of stores selling most things one needs. 8 miles away in Albatera there is a Spanish supermarket.

Why this location? When we first saw the detached Villa standing in about four thousand square metres of land, we fell in love with it as it is in the real Spain, with no immediate neighbours. It is situated about a mile outside the village which we look down on from our elevated position on the side of a mountain. The air is clean and clear and it is totally quiet with the odd noise of a tractor purring away in the distance and sometimes the muffled sound of a dog barking. Locally there are quaint little shops also bars and restaurants, the nearest supermarket is about eight miles away on empty roads, and close to where the motorway complex starts. We can be on the beaches of the Costa Blanca in about forty minutes and all the facilities they offer. Benidorm with its night life and theatres is a short drive along the A7 easy flowing duel carriageway past Alicante
Unique benefits of property Casa FuenteLargo is unique in that it is a large property with about 200 square metres of living space, with five bedrooms sleeping nine people. It is also unique because we only accept one family or group of friends at any one time. Our guests have the full use of the property with the exception of the owners’ apartment which is a separate unit. There are no extras and all the facilities are included in the price, they are an eight by four metre pool – table tennis – nine pin skittles in an eight meter alley – quoits – a championship dart board also other indoor games. For the 2017 season a badminton court will be installed. There are four shower rooms, three in the house and one by the pool. There are also three fridges in the kitchen – courtyard and by the pool. The courtyard also has a covered area with an outside kitchen. Location and activities

The small local village of Hondón de los Frailes nestles in the mountains about 40 minutes from the coast and is steeped in history. It is surrounded by farmlands rich in fruit and vegetation. Among the wealth of fruits grown locally are grapes (table and wine) oranges, lemons, almonds and dates.The village centre has changed little over the ages despite the push of modern progress. In the summer months the local Tapas bars will seat you outside in the cool evening air to enjoy their wares under the stars. There is a municipal pool with play area, an Irish Bar, an Indian restaurant and kebab takeaway.

Local activities include golf - all courses are within an hours drive from Casa Fuentelargo. We can arrange transport if required. balloon flights are available but it would be advisable if you contact us and we will book these in advance. Fishing. sea fishing or on the shore by the lake. There is a nearby trout farm which caters for half day or all day fishing. Museums. There is a local museum dedicated to the local wine industry. In Torrevieja Harbour, a submarine is moored, entrance is free and includes a visit to the salt museums. Cartagena is just over an hours drive and this city is situated on the coast and dates back to Roman times therefore steeped in history and full of interesting places to visit. A 20 minute drive will take you to the ancient town of Fortuna Banos where you can bathe in the natural spring waters
