This is our lovingly renovated 17th century house. It is full of French character and history, with original features such as the large high ceilinged rooms, wide sweeping oak staircase, exposed beams and original fireplaces, yet has all the modern comforts you would expect in a well-equipped home. Over 3 floors, the main house consists of a large hall, kitchen/eating area, sitting/dining room, 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
Free welcome pack (inc, tea, coffee, milk, bread, jam, juice, wine and ingredients for first night meal and first breakfast). Grocery shopping service (you tell us what you want and we will get it ready for your arrival) payable on arrival plus 15 Euro charge. Babysitting can be arranged with my wife Annabelle, a fully qualified primary school teacher at a cost 15 Euros per hour.
We love the beautiful historic town of Rochechouart because it is perfectly situated on the Charente/Limousin/ Dordogne border, very close to all local amenities. There are some beautiful local lakes with superb beaches, bike and horse riding all within easy reach of this property. For the more active guests the property is a short drive away from two excellent golf courses. There are super bars and restaurants a short stroll away, as well as an impressive chateau to explore. There really is something for everyone here. The area is easily accessible with Limoges airport less than a 30 minutes drive away.
There are plenty of local markets to explore selling good quality local produce, many summer festivals and a little further afield, Cognac tours in the neighbouring Charente.
The large kitchen is equipped with all modern conveniences including oven, hob and extractor; microwave, table and chairs and American style fridge-freezer, all sorts of kitchenalia.
The spacious sitting/dining room is well equipped with large tv, video, dvd and Sky access. There are 2 large sofas, and a chair, coffee-table and wood burning stove.

On the half landing there is a wc. On the first floor there is a family bathroom situated between the 2 double bedrooms, equipped with bath, shower over, wc & basin. The second floor has a large bathroom with enclosed shower, wc and basin.

The private garden is arranged over 3 terraces and is accessed via a double stone staircase. The gardens are mainly laid to lawn with flower borders and teal trees.
The first terrace is flat with bbq and garden table, chairs, and a feature well.
The second terrace offers sun and shade and offers an above ground oval swimming pool (7m x 3.5m).
The bottom terrace has a trampoline, and swing set.
Parking is on the street but all around the property.
The property is suitable for people of all ages.
Garry is an auto-entrepreneur and Annabelle is a fully trained primary school teacher, and has had experience of teaching both in the UK and in Spain. <br/><br/>Their daughter, Georgia is 17 years old and is currently studying at Lycee Guez de Balzac, Angouleme. <br/><br/>The family have three dogs and a cat, that are all very friendly and love to receive a little attention. <br/><br/>The whole family enjoy spending time at the local lakes during the summer, walking their two adorable dogs.<br/><br/>We live off site

You can now book both the house and the 2 apartment together which will sleep a total of 14 as well as a further kitchen, lounge, and 2 toilets/shower rooms. ( ask for further details)

Located near the Haute Charente lakes, this park will allow you to spend a sensational and friendly day for the whole family. From the activities in the trees to the bungee jump tower including the Maxi Tyrolienne (aerial ropeways), everyone will enjoy it, adults and children (from the age of 6 and 1m55 with arms raised) from the beginners to the experienced. The Pitchoun Parc (childrens park) with its own play area secured with nets, now accommodates very young children (from the age of 3). This attraction is situated 20 minutes drive away.
The lakes in the Upper Charente were created to regulate the flow of the river Charente. They stretch out through the hedged meadows as a water sports venue for the delight of young and old alike. The beach at La Guerlie, on the shores of lake Lavaud, is surrounded by wetland trees. Fine sand, fresh water, soft grass and the shade of the willow trees are just waiting for bathers and the sleepy. Supervised bathing in July and August. Children’s play area beside the beach and in the middle of the meadows. Picnic tables, ice creams, refreshments and catering on site. There are also swimming lakes at Vidiex, St Mathieu and Roumaziers - Loubert.
The park consists of 15 hectares of woodland walks tree glades, allowing the monkeys to move in total freedom and in direct contact with visitors. Here, there are no cages or barriers, but lots of space to allow you to discover the après (Gorillas; Chimpanzees, Bonobos etc) like nowhere else. There is also a small farm where children can feed the smaller animals and several playgrounds for children to enjoy; including swings, slides, climbing structures and a zip-wire. Peacocks roam free and there are various feeding shows throughout the day. There are plenty of areas for families to picnic and a café selling hot and cold food, snacks and ice-cream. Located 1.25 hours drive away.
A large pool complex offering fun inside and out. Here you can enjoy water zorbing, swim in a 50m Olympic sized pool or enjoy a family friendly inside pool with water jets, Jacuzzi and waterfalls. There is an 80m inside waterslides (for 6 years and over); separate diving pool and paddling pool for the little ones. Outside there is a wave pool; outside play area with zip-wire; the lazy river; and a 4 track water slide. There is also a large lawn for those wishing to relax and soak up a little sun!! Inside there is a spa with 2 saunas; steam room and solarium and for those wanting something a little more energetic – a cardio area with bicycles, treadmills, rowing machine and elliptical equipment. This attraction is 1 hours drive away.
Located near Limoges is a wonderful outdoor amusement park with attractions for all ages. It has fairground rides, go karting, ropebridges extending out across a lake, small train, toboggan run and lots, lots more. This is a perfect place to visit with your small people, take a picnic and make a whole day of it. It is located 35 minutes drive from the property.
Why not enjoy a gentle cycle on the Velo-rail, a bicycle mounted on rails through some beautiful countryside, on a track which stretches from Roumazieres to Confolens – 17kms in total. A great expereince for all ages, with the opportunity to rest midway and enjoy a picnic or icecream. Roumazieres is located 25 minutes drive away.
