Approx 50 minutes drive but well worth a visit to this medieval city. For those who like markets we recommend this as a good example of a typical French market every Saturday morning with plenty of bars and small shops that may interest you too. A visit to La Cite Medievale is a must, with restuarants, shops and a church with beautifully adorned interior. Combine your visit with either the 'Les Geants du Ciel', a high flying bird show inside the castle, or for the more energetic try a trip on the Velo Rail.
Approx. 1 hours drive but well worth the trip. This is one of only 18 similar zoos in the world where you are able to discover over 350 primates in their natural habitat. A full day, enjoyable by all age groups. We recommend you take a picnic - a suitable place to visit on a showery or hot sunny day as there is plenty of shelter and shade from the leafy surroundings.
Approx. 30 mins drive. A beautiful place to relax and enjoy a day at the beach. Soft sandy beaches, grassed and shady areas as well as places to play ball games. A children's playground, bouncy castles (in high season), tree walking and high wire, canoeing and pedloes to hire. Restaurant, showers and toilets. Safe swimming area with diving platform supervised by lifeguards in high season.
The capital city of the region with many places of interest to visit. Take a walk round the oldest part of the city with medieval houses, curiosity shops, small restaurants and narrow streets. For those who wish for a guided tour, try the Petit Train. Famous for it's porcelain and enamel ware the Bernardaud Porcelain factory houses beautiful examples over 3 floors.
A memorial village from World War II left in ruins as a reminder to the cruelty that happened there during Nazi occupied France when 642 people were murdered by a Waffen SS unit of the Das Reich division. Only 5 men and 1 woman survived the ordeal.
This is our fourth time at Les Lauriers and the standards were as high as ever. This year we returned with our 5 year old and 1 year old daughters and they loved it. The playhouse is perfectly set up with toys and games for young children, and the pool was warm enough for everyone to swim.
Pat and Marie live on site and nothing was too much trouble for them to help ensure we had a wonderful holiday. We particularly love that Marie will cook a fantastic three course dinner for us to enjoy once the children are safely asleep. It's restaurant quality food but without the inconvenience of having to take the children out in the evening or leave them with an unknown babysitter.
We highly recommend Les Lauriers and will definitely be returning again.
The chateau is everything we expected; well maintained house, beautiful gardens, and a great range of games and activities for all the kids, (including the big ones!) The owners were very friendly and offered advice on places to visit, and the family enjoyed their time around the house and grounds. An amazing place and a great place to spend a holiday. I'm sure we shall return.
Had a wonderful relaxing break at this beautiful chateau. The weather was great during our stay and the gardens are amazing and a great place to relax. The children were happy to explore and most of all loved to play in playhouse. The house was everything you would hope to find, very clean, well maintained and comfortable. The owners were very friendly and obliging. We couldn't have wished for a better place to celebrate my birthday and the meal they provided was exceptional. I am certain that we will return and look forward to staying a little longer next time.
Thank you for your kind comments. We look forward to your return.
