About this property

Spacious, 4 bedroom gite with shared pool. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Gartempe, a four bedroom gite with light and spacious rooms, comfortably sleeps 8 people (10 by arrangement).

Amid forty acres sprawling over a hilltop above the Gartempe valley, Le Repaire is a classic French farm in a courtyard setting. The 19th Century stone and tiled roof barn has been sympathetically converted to provide three large holiday cottages ('gîtes'), Hirondelle, Martinet and Gartempe.

Each gite offers luxurious and spacious accommodation, with attractive original stonework and exposed beams, tiled and wooden floors, and private gardens with patios and furniture.

The gites are beautifully decorated and furnished. Each also features gas central heating and double-glazed windows and doors for out of season comfort.

For those who like nothing better than lazing by a pool,  Le Repaire features a large 12m x 6m floodlit salt water pool with semi-circular roman steps. Surrounding the pool is a tiled terrace with views over the valley and a full range of sunbathing, garden furniture, sun-shades and parasols. The pool is fenced to comply with French regulations.

If you are looking for Limoges pottery, there is a factory outlet in Le Dorat, which offers good quality, reasonably priced seconds as well as top grade merchandise.

Some 40km to the east of Le Repaire lies the capital of the Limousin region, Limoges. An energetic and charming city, Limoges provides all of the shopping, restaurants and historical & cultural attractions that you would expect of an historic regional capital, which is famous for its porcelains with many outlets throughout the area. The city also has Museums and plays hosts to festivals during the summer.

Mortemart

This village has been named as one of the more beautiful villages of France. This delightful village is in Limousin country and has grown up around the castle that was built in the 10C by Abon Drut, Lord of Mortemart. It was destroyed by order of Cardinal de Richelieu and all that remains of it today is the tower keep and a few rooms that now host exhibitions. If you enjoy a round of Golf there is a 9 hole course just outside the village.
