At Gites de Laprade we are focused on providing you with your ideal holiday in this outstanding area of France, whether it is total relaxation you are looking for or a more energetic time, then we can certainly help you get what you want.
The Limousin is famous for it's forests and lakes and we have both here at Gites de Laprade, our location in the Haute Vienne region, is quite unique, the River Couze which surrounds our property, runs quietly by both our gites and feeds our 2 acre lake (unfortunately this means the location is unsuitable for children), this is well stocked with carp up to 35lb+ and colourful Koi carp, maybe you could try your hand at a bit of fishing, we are also happy to welcome your dog.
This beautiful area abounds with wildlife, deer, wild boar and buzzards are easily spotted and the mix of forests and lakes make for perfect walking, cycling and bird-watching.
If you are a budding artist then this is also the perfect area, it was certainly good enough for Fred Yates, he lived in our local village of Rancon until his death in 2009. We can be flexible about arrival days, please ask.
The kitchen is well equipped with; counter top electric oven with 2 rings on top, microwave, fridge (with small freezer box), kettle, coffee-maker, toaster, crockery, cutlery, glasses and also plastic plates etc for use round the pool and hot tub. There is also an ironing board and iron and hairdryer. There is a breakfast bar with lovely views over the river and fields.
There is a sofa and another chair and a coffee table.
The tv is also a dvd and cd player, it has English freeview channels and, we have lots of dvds for your use. In the small passageway there is a lovely set of drawers.
The bedroom has a double bed, small dressing table and wall hook with plenty of wooden clothes hangers.
In the bathroom you will find a large vanity unit and washbasin, toilet and a (newly fitted) shower cubicle.
Heating is by mobile electric heaters and a heated towel rail in the bathroom.
We have lots of dvds for you to choose from and, please ask if you need any more books than are in the gite, I have lots.
Outside the gite you have a table and chairs, sunlounger and bbq.
You also have use of the above ground pool and hot tub.
There is a rowing boat and kayak for you to use on the lake and, you are welcome to fish the lake.
You can park your car right outside the gite
Because of the lake and the whole property being surrounded by the river, it is not suitable for children.
The gite and the area around the lake are all on one level, so suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Your friendly dog is very welcome as well.
We are Brian and Taunya Smith, we moved to this idyllic area of France in 2007 after selling our small hill farm in the Penines in West Yorkshire and, we have not regretted the move even for a day. The little commune where Gites de Laprade is located is charming, rural and full of very friendly locals and we even have a local bar/restaurant less than 5 minutes by car or, a really pretty 15/20 minute walk away! Perfect!
