We are Steve & Margaret Fox and we moved to this lovely area of France in 2014.
|Year property purchased||2014|
|Why this location?||We have plenty of sunshine and are driving distance from the Channel ports, in addition to Caen and Le Havre and our nearest airport, Limoges, is just 45 mins drive away, serviced all year round from the UK by Ryanair.|
|Unique benefits of property||We have family gites and a closed fishing lake (free to fish day and night for guests) - something we struggled to find when we holidayed in France as a family.|
The beautiful town of Brantome on the river Dronne has a lovely old town and riverside cafes and restaurants. It's less than an hour by car.
Famous for it's porcelain, with a lovely cathedral and botanical gardens, Limoges has an old butchers quarter, a medieval bridge and, of course, shops and restaurants.
The historic martyr's village of Oradour Sur Glane, left as it was in June 1944 is a 45 minute drive.
The 15th century chateau town of Rochechouart is just 10 mins drive away and has a good range of shops, banks and restaurants.
La P'tite Loco, Rochechouart - typically French lunchtime set price menu, lovely food at a very good price.
L'Hotel De France - lovely restaurant with a wider menu.
Large local lake with beach, swimming, leisure activities, restaurant.
A railway track where you cycle specially adapted trolleys along old railway tracks through the Vienne countryside. Best to book at busy times.
Very popular Wednesday morning market. It does get busy but there are lots of local fresh product stalls plus interesting crafts.
Best preserved thermal baths in France, just 15 mins drive. Covering 25 hectares, with picnic area, snacks, restaurant in high season. There are audio guides in many languages and English guided tours are bookable in the summer.
What a beautiful setting with everything you need in a holiday. We were 4 adults and 2 children in this gite with the rest of our family staying next door. Amazing weather, wonderful walks and a lovely pool meant we only left to go to the supermarket! The fish eluded us this time although the one we caught was a big one!! Hopefully better luck next time! Our hosts were amazing and Margaret even made a cake for our granddaughter who had her 3rd birthday during our stay. Hope to return in the future.
Pleased to here that you enjoyed your holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
Stayed for a week. Gite is in a lovely setting away from main road and surrounded by fields and woodland. Heated swimming pool was a real luxury (even though temperature was mid 30s a bit of heat in the water was great on first getting in). Lovely warm welcome from Steve and Margaret. Welcome basket on arrival with basics along with a bottle of red wine and beer in the fridge! Gite well equipped and comfortable. Outside seating area for each gite. Plenty of sun beds. Barn with table tennis, darts and board games. We were invited to a game of boules along with the family next door which was fun and Margaret made a birthday cake for the guy next door and invited us for drinks.
A lovely relaxing holiday. Will definitely stay there again if we visit France again
A fantastic time was had by all,lovely gite great owners nothing was to much trouble but they were not overbearing but we're on hand if we needed anything, my wife had her birthday while we were there and Margaret one of the owners even baked a cake for her. And her husband even run us down to the local town so we could go to the restaurant for my wife's birthday. We will be going back.
