About this property

Delightful Accomodation, Picturesque Rural Location. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Gîtes Les Palennes, located in the Perigord-Limousin Regional Natural Park in the Haute Vienne department of the Limousin, slightly off the beaten track and surrounded by rolling green fields and woodland, our officially rated 4* gîtes offer you luxury accommodation and facilities in a relaxed, peaceful location with wonderful views.

Les Palennes is a 50 acre property, it sits on the top of a small hill on its own, with no immediate neighbours, it was originally a working farm, and the stone farmhouse and barns are being rejuvenated and renovated sympathetically to allow our guests to relax and unwind in seclusion. We are only a 10 minute drive to Oradour-sur-Vayres where you will find a choice of restaurants, bars, boulangeries, boucherie, pharmacy doctors and supermarkets. Rochechouart and St Junien, with more excellent restaurants and shopping facilities are both within a short drive.

L'etacq is an extremely spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom gîte. Originally a barn, it has been completely renovated to provide luxury open plan accommodation on the ground floor, original stone walls and vaulted ceilings up to a mezzanine landing.

L’Etacq has its own private, west facing deck and bbq area with table and chairs to allow you to relax and watch the amazing sunsets while sipping your apéritif.

Kitchen and dining

The fully fitted kitchen, complete with electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and fridge-freezer comes fully equipped and can comfortably cater for 4/5 people, all utensils, crockery and glasses are also provided. The dining area has a large oak table and chairs.

A complimentary welcome pack to get your holiday started is provided with a good selection of basics and a few luxuries, we can let you know exactly what is provided in advance if you wish.

Living rooms

The open plan living area comes equipped with three sofas, coffee tables, rugs, lamps and a log burning stove. There is a wall mounted tv, with some satellite channels. Books and games are also available.

Up the oak staircase, the mezzanine landing leads to two tastefully decorated en suite bedrooms. Both have far reaching views over the beautiful countryside out through a Juliet balcony and window. Both can be configured as one superking-sized bed or 2 single beds, please let us know in advance how you would like the beds made up. All bedding is provided.

A roll-away bed can be added to one of the bedrooms to accommodate an additional child if needed at no extra cost.

There are double wardrobes and 2 bedside cabinets in each bedroom.

Each bedroom has a generous en-suite comprising large shower, toilet, washbasin vanity unit, backlit wall mirror and heated towel rail. All towels are provided as is a vanity kit.

The whole gite is heated for those cooler nights or cosy winter breaks, there is also a logburner in the living room area

We do not provide entertainment as such at Les Palennes, but our two donkeys Bill & Ben are very entertaining!

Garden and outside

L'Etacq has its own private terrace with bbq, table and chairs. There are wonderful views over the countryside where you may see deer in the early mornings or evenings. We benefit from extensive grounds and our guests are welcome to find a bench in the shade and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Parking and garages

Plenty of parking, no garages for cars but we can secure any motorbikes in one of our barns.

Visitor suitability

L'etacq is suitable for most, there is a flight of stairs and a mezzanine landing so may not suit those who struggle with stairs. Parents of small children should supervise around the mezzanine landing.

Information about any additional facilities

There is a pool, hot tub and pool terrace area with communal bbq, sunloungers, parasols and pool towels are available for our guests use. We also have boules, badminton and oodles of wide open spaces! We can arrange hot air balloon rides from our property if you want to spoil yourselves, highly recommended!
