About this property

Charming 2 Bedroom Fully Equipped Cottage/Gîte. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Surrounded by open countryside with no immediate neighbours our Gîte at La Maison du Bos in the commune of Cheronnac offers an idyllic, peaceful location for a relaxing holiday. Situated in our own grounds of 1 hectare with a small lake you will be surrounded by nature and with no light pollution star gazing on clear nights is amazing. We are perfectly located for house hunting in the northern Dordogne, eastern Charente and Haute Vienne departments of France.

Located near to the lake district of the Charente, there are swimming lakes with sandy beaches nearby and a child friendly adventure park. You will find a large range of restuarants from quick fish and chips to fine dining experiences. Popular French markets are on Wednesdays at Piegut and Fridays at Brantome all within easy driving distance. For those that enjoy history, Europe's largest Roman remains are nearby at Chassenon, and on a more serious note is Oradour sur Glane which is a memorial to the Second World War. Both well worth a visit.

Local supermarket, pharmacy and doctors are closeby in St Mathieu.

The area around Cheronnac is excellent cycling country and there are also many well signposted walks through the countryside.

We are located midway between Angoulême and Limoges. There is an airport at Limoges with regular flights and at Angoulême there is a train station with good connections to Paris on the TGV. You will need your own transport for getting about, either by driving directly to us, or hiring a car at the airport or train station.
