|Gite de Vulcain||Self Catering||Saturday||2||6||2||A double sofabed in lounge for 2 people|
Vulcain Gite was completed last year.
Although it has character features like exposed beams, it is equipped with all the modern facilities you need, including a flat screen HD TV, Blu-ray DVD player and free Wi-Fi.
It is set in 2 acres of land mainly laid to grass, with a lovely swimming pool that has a terrace with loungers, parasols and a gazebo for when you want to escape the sun completely.
It is a secluded setting with plenty of room for children to kick a ball and run around in. In this area you will also find 2 swings.
There is an swimming pool 10m x 5m x 1.2m with an alarm. This is cleaned every day. It is shared by 2 gites. There is a shower and foot bath. Around the pool are loungers, parasols and we have noodles for children to play with in the pool. To one side of the pool is a gazebo for extra shade. A paddling pool is available for very young children.
There are private outside eating areas for each gite which have table and chairs, parasols and BBQ. We have a number of outside games available for guests such as swingball, badminton, cricket and football nets.
The kitchen has a very rustic feel to it with an original stone wall and tiled work surface. Underneath the work surface are large baskets for storage of food etc. It has a pine dresser and lots of appliances such as dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, a cooker which has a gas hob and electric oven, and a fridge-freezer. There is also a toaster and lots of cookware and utensils that make it feel just like home.
The gîte entrance is into a lovely large lounge/dining room.
It has 2 three seater sofas, one which is a sofabed. There is a large wooden coffee-table and unit that has a satellite flat screen tv and BluRay dvd player, also drawers and bookcase.
At the other end of the room is a wooden table with 6 high backed faux leather chairs and a wooden bureau. This room also has a wood burner for any chilly evenings in the spring/autumn.
There are several lamps in the room which gives the room a really cosy feel to it.
The staircase leads from the lounge onto a landing and to the bedrooms which have a lot of character including original beams.
The master bedroom has a pine double bed, pine wardrobe, drawers with a dressing table mirror and bedside tables with lamps. There is also a full length mirror.
The second bedroom has 2 pine single beds, pine wardrobe , drawers with dressing table mirror and bedside table with a lamp. This room can also take another child's bed if necessary,
Both bedrooms also have floor standing fans to help keep the room cool in the summer and have hairdryers.
There is a large downstairs bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower over the bath with a glass shower screen. Also a shelving unit for storage.
There is also an upstairs shower room with a shower cubicle, sink and toilet and storage unit for all your toiletries.
There is a wood burner in the lounge and electric wall heaters in the lounge and bedrooms.
There is also a heated towel rail in the downstairs bathroom.
There is a flat screen hd tv, Blu-ray player and free wi-fi.
We also have a lots of dvds, books and board games.

There is so much to see and do in the area with the beautiful old medieval village of Segur-le-Chateau 2 miles away, and Pompadour with its race course, home of the national stud is only 10km. There is a choice of several lakes with beaches/activities, 2 of which are 20mins and 30mins drive away. There are many other outdoor activities in the area such as horse riding, fishing, go karting and of course biking on the lovely quiet roads, these can also be hired locally. Being right on the edge of the Dordogne, it also only takes 1.5 hours to get to the famous town of Rocamadour set into the cliff side. There are also lots of beautiful caves around here to visit.
This was our second year at gite de Vulcain. As last year a beautiful, quiet setting. Not too far from supermarkets. You do have to be prepared to travel to see the sights as it is very rural but that to us was a bonus as we like the peace and quiet.Great value for money. The property was well maintained and clean. The owners were always on the end of an email to sort out any issues that we might have and were dealt with very quickly.Would definately recommend to others.
Thank you for your review and recommendation. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us again this year and hope that we might welcome you and your lovely family back again in the future. Best wishes Michelle and Martin
We spent a lovely relaxing 2weeks here.we love rural,so this was perfect for us,supermarkets only 10 minutes away.many hours spent at the pool which is in direct sun all day.(plenty of shade and seating if you want it).the gite was exactly what we were after.plenty of room, clean, tidy and had everything you need to make it home from home.outdoor space had separate seating area from neighbours with barbecue if you wanted but to be honest we didn't use it because we were always down by the pool.the owners were very welcoming and were quick at trying to resolve any issues but there weren't many.they gave loads of information on things to do in and around the area.pompadour, chateaux de hautefort,Maison forte de reignac,la rock de Christophe, brantome are just a few places we visited and would recommend to others although they are at least an hour away.segur le chateau on the other hand is the most beautiful village we have ever seen and is only minutes away..only an hour and half from the dordogne so canoed down the river, brilliant set up but best to book as it gets very busy.lovely gite, lovely people definitely worth a visit.would definitely recommend this property to others.😊😊😊😊😊
We would recommend this gite to anyone. We had a great week, visited a lot of places like gouffre de Padirac, rocamadour, Oradour sur glane or just stayed at the comfort at the house and the pool. Simone and her family are very friendly and helpful. We had a great week.
Thanks a lot
