Idyllic and romantic. Comfortable and fully equipped.

Les Moulins le Manoir in St.-Moreil deserves only one classification: excellent. We have spent two wonderful weeks there. The environment is idyllic and romantic. A wide variety of trees and other plants can be admired in the park-like landscape. And then that rest. Here it is still very quiet and during the evenings, thanks to a darkness that can hardly be found anywhere else in the Netherlands, you can admire a beautiful starry sky.
The pool was a godsend during the very hot days in late July and early August. On comfortable sun beds and under the shade of the umbrellas - in our opinion it should have been one more - was to enjoy the good life.
And then the house itself. Even during the hottest days, it stayed nice and cool inside. The interior has been restored with dedication and taste, respecting the character of the house. It was good to sit in the stylish sitting room where the TV with accessories especially at the youth deduction found. The bedrooms and the wonderful beds provided peace that after tiring days. There was nothing to criticize in the bathrooms. The kitchen is undoubtedly the showpiece of the house. Never before did we encounter such an extensive collection of equipment, kitchen utensils, crockery and glassware. Sublime.

We had a lovely week at Les Moulins Le Manoir. The house is spacious, clean and well equipped - even a tea pot - often French holiday homes don't provide one! All the family (6 adults) tried their hand at fishing - only one carp was caught and returned, otherwise just small roach which we returned to the lake. The pool was kept clean by the Caretaker who came every morning. The nearest supermarket is about 20 minutes drive, so we tried to stock up to save lots of trips, so the large fridge and freezer were useful. We had a relaxing break, soaking up the sun, swimming and fishing - I would definitely recommend Les Moulins Le Manoir if you want a relaxing and peaceful holiday. We took a trip to Auphelle (25 minutes drive) where there is a large lake. During high season there are pedalos and other water sports available. We enjoyed lunch at a lakeside restaurant and took a scenic drive around the lake. Saint Leonard de Noblat was about 20 minutes drive away where there is a Carrefour Supermarket and an Aldi. We also found a pleasant bar/cafe in the centre for drinks and coffee.

Timen’s place is well equipped and beautifully located. We spent a week as a family of 9, 6 adults and 3 kids. The kids loved the pool and fishing for small roach in the lake. The adults enjoyed relaxing on the terrace and fishing for the carp in the lake ( elusive!). The location is a bit remote but the surrounding countryside is beautiful and the local villages charming. We would highly recommend Timen’s place for a week away from it all.

Owner response

Thank you Nick for the nice review.

Our second visit and glad we returned.
Lovely house and grounds, very peaceful and quiet.
Children loved boating and waterboarding on lake.
My parents loved watching the wildlife.
Well stocked kitchen, comfy beds.
Friendly and prompt responses from owner, good welcome pack.
Marked down local amenities as 30 mins drive to town but depends what you are looking for, we wanted peace and quiet so it was perfect for us.
