Semi-retired civil servant, doing some procurement consultancy on the side, next to projects on the Manoir as well as at home in The Hague. I love France and especially the Limousin, whose unjustified lack of familiarity we use to our advantage. No overcrowded conditions in a beautiful setting with a great summer climate. In the near future we will go with the minicamper to further explore France when we have guests in the house.

The place had a TIMELESS, heavenly paradise feeling about it. The weather was perfect. We were able to eat all our meals in the fresh air and sit out until long after dark in our shorts. The silence surrounding us was astonishing. We were far from roads or the sounds of traffic and the air was so fresh and clean. I usually suffer with allergies and they completely disappeared here.
We all woke up feeling happy and fulfilled every day. The manor house was wonderful - three floors with spacious rooms and comfortable beds, four bathrooms, a nice family room with books, games and TV, as well as a huge kitchen. The large kitchen was well-equipped and easy to use and included a dishwasher, electric stove and large coffee maker. There was also a utility room with large freezer, fridge, and a washer/dryer.
We enjoyed sitting up by the pool and taking dips in the lovely salt water. There were nice loungers up there and big umbrellas that offered plenty of shade in the heat of the day. We also enjoyed the lake with its funny little island and rope suspension bridge. The rowboats added to the fun and the guys enjoyed fishing.
One day we hiked through the woods, into the nearest town where there was an adorable elf-house made out of a tree stump, and a pretty little church. Very sweet.
This was the best holiday we've ever had and we can't wait to go back again. We are recommending Le Manoir to everyone we know.
Thank you Timothy for the wonderful review. I'm happy that you, like so many other guests, share our admiration for the place and its setting.
Six of us including my twelve year old son have just enjoyed a superb week at Les Moulins Les Manoir. From the gasps of amazement on arrival realising that this was to be our base for the next week to our heading off and waving Saint Moreil goodbye we had a wonderful time. The setting is terrific with the lake providing fishing and short walking opportunities and the pool just right for a cooling dip. Inside the house everything we wanted was there and easy to find. We self catered and found the kitchen and utility room really easy to use. Nearest towns are worth a trip and supermarkets provide everything you might need. Really highly recommended for up to 12 any time of the year.
Thank you Hugh for the wonderful review.
Les Moulins was in a superb setting, tranquil with lots of space The amenities at the property were perfect for a family holiday and well thought out. The pool was in a lovely position, full sunlight all day with shade if needed. The lakeside seating area was exactly what was required for outdoor meals or just sitting watching the wildlife around the lake. The owners description did accurately describe the setting and property.
The property was clean on arrival and everything that one needed for a comfortable stay was provided. Small details like maps, binoculars etc. The kitchen diner was extremely well set up with utensils, crockery, glasses and appliances.
The bedrooms were of a good size but none had en-suite facilities There were adequate showers/bathrooms which had to be shared. This did not inconvenience us as we were a family used to some sharing.
The games room had a range of activities if one found the time.
There really were no immediately local amenities. There was a restaurant a few kilometers away which provided simple buy good local dishes. The nearest village for bread and provisions was Peyrat.. This again did not bother us as the villages where you could find a baker or supermarket were in themselves interesting and wort a visit.
The carp fishing was obviously good but the trout were elusive. Given that we were there in mid August with high water temperatures this was not surprising.
Overall we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Les Moulins.
Thank you very much David for the nice review.
