About this property

Peaceful, Rural Location Offering Excellent Value. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Comfortably furnished for 2; one double bedroom and a separate 'dressing room' upstairs. Downstairs accommodation provides a good sized kitchen/diner and living area with a terrace which includes outside table and chairs overlooking the large shared garden.

This is one of 3 Gites set in a very tranquil and rural area, just the gites, the English owners who are on hand if required for information and assistance and one retired French neighbour. We are surrounded by fabulous countryside, dotted with lovely French villages and towns with lots of local markets and places to explore and enjoy.

This really is a 'get away from it all' place! The quiet roads in this area, one of the least populated of France, make any outing a pleasure.

The perfect base for house-hunting or for walking, cycling, fishing, photography, painting, reading, playing games ..... or just sitting and enjoying the garden where over the last year wildlife visitors have included; Deer, Red Squirrels, Hoopee, Golden Oriole, Turtle Doves, Woodpeckers - Green, Black and various spotted, Nightingales, Stone Marten and even hedgehogs.

The Creuse has been identified as having the cleanest air in the whole of France and has also been voted in the top ten of the happiest places to live in France!

As this is such a rural location we benefit from no light pollution, providing fabulous night skies.

Walk routes, maps and guided walks can be available, please ask for information at the time of booking. We also offer personalised walking holidays and short breaks that can be tailored to your specific requirements and can include lunch stops at a variety of local restaurants providing a unique experience of this beautiful area.

Bed linen is included in the price but we are unable to offer towels.

Please note that there are wooden stairs to the first floor that are not protected by stairgates.

The gites is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems that prevent them from using stairs.

A €100 damage/security deposit will be required on arrival. This will be returned to you when the gite has been checked prior to departure.

The Local Taxe De Sejour (Holiday Tax) is 2% of the nightly cost (to a maximum of 1.65€ per night per person) plus 10% additional tax for each person over the age of 18 (children under the age of 18 are exempt). For example: A couple staying for a week in peak holiday season, would pay a total of 7.56€, which can be paid at the end of your stay using any loose change you have left.

Le Montinazeau can be found in the North of La Creuse in an area known as Les Trois Lacs (The Three Lakes) the nearest of which is just 15 minutes away and boasts a man-made beach with safe swimming, boating, a small bar and cafe/restaurant, free parking and walks. The nearest village is under 5 kilometres away and provides a grocery shop; Post Office and Bar/Restaurant. Larger towns are within 10 kilometres providing all services including Banks; Supermarkets; Restaurants; weekly Markets etc. There are many areas of interest all within 30 minutes of the Gites including (but certainly not limited to) the castle at Crozant, overlooking the valley where the Sedelle and the Creuse Rivers meet; Fresseline, where Monet and other artists came to paint; The Pilgrims Way (Le Chemin de St. Jaques de Compostelle), where it follows the beautiful Sedelle River; La Souterraine with it's medieval gateways and bustling market. Only slightly further afield is Gueret where you can find the Wolf sanctuary; the Giant Labyrinth; the famous Monts de Gueret (with miles of beautiful walks and cycling routes); Limoges (famous for its porcelain and the birthplace of Renoir); Aubusson (designated Unesco site with its tapestries); Argenton-sur-Creuse (beautiful medieval town on the river with famous historic Roman site 'Argentomagus'); Le Haute Touche (animal reserve with over 1,000 animals from all five continents in a natural environment covering over 1,000 acres). After a busy(!) day exploring, walking, swimming, sitting... you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the garden at Le Montinazeau and watch out for the local wildlife to be seen which in the last year has included; Deer; Red Squirrel; Stone Marten; Black Kites; Buzzards; Hobby's; Woodpeckers (Green, Greater Spotted and even Black!). We had a lovely break in this gite. The owners were very organised with information folders about the gite and the surrounding areas, places to visit and restaurants to eat in.
The gite was very comfortable and well layed out.
The description of the gite was as we found it, very accurate. It was well maintained, clean and tidy. It was a home from home.
We would recommend this gite and any of the other two next door to friends and family if visiting the area. We would use again too.

Owner response

Thank you for your kind words and we are very glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We would be happy to welcome you back at any time.
