This is a large rural holiday cottage that has been modernised and renovated to keep all its charming original features whilst adding modern touches to provide a relaxing, enjoyable and comfortable family holiday.
The cottage has 4 bedrooms (2 double and 2 twin), with one of the twin rooms being a family room with a double sofabed and can sleep up to 10 people. We can also provide a cot and highchair.
This cottage is one of two but each cottage is entirely private and self-contained, having its own patio terrace area with patio furniture and bbq for al fresco dining. The 2 cottages share the heated in-ground pool and garden area, we have found after running the business for 5 years now that this works extremely well as the children from the 2 cottages make friends and entertain themselves allowing the parents time to relax and unwind, taking time out to read their book or listen to their music without interruption.
There is large private garden that is completely secure for little ones with loads of room for them to run around and have loads of fun with many outdoor toys.
The location of the cottage is ideal for a relaxing family holiday, and it’s only a short drive to the supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. The local boulangerie is a short 5 minute drive away for the daily croissant run. We have plenty of brochures and leaflets in the cottage to inform you about the many attractions in the area, and we are always around for you to ask us our recommendations or directions. The lakes offer lovely beaches and watersports, and there are many picturesque towns and villages with an abundance of history. So whether you want to be relaxing by pool or something more energetic Meadow view can offer it all and is the perfect place for your holiday.
The heated pool is cleaned on a daily basis and the pool terrace area is equipped with rattan sunloungers, settees, chairs and tables. We do also have sun parasols to screen those with sensitive delicate skin. There are wonderful views from the terrace and garden and we can let you know about the many walks or cycle rides along the country lanes and through woodlands. There is a stream just down the lane from the cottage where you can play “pooh sticks” from the bridge or try a spot of fishing.
Wi-fi is free to use in the cottage, and the connection is available in the garden and all around the pool terrace. UK Sky tv and French TNT tv is available in the cottage and there is a dvd player and I Dock.
Well equipped kitchen, with pot and pans, crockery, glassware, cutlery and utensils, just about everything you can think of!

The Creuse area has been awarded one of the best air qualities of France.
We were both born and raised in Sheffield, England. Then in 2009 we have the idea about moving to France, firstly to have a more relaxed, stress-free life but also to give our children an amazing opportunity to learn another language and have the freedom to play-out without a care in the world! We found this property on the internet, and finally moved over to France in January 2010. We spent the last 3 years renovating a barn that we all live in and two gites.
|Year property purchased||2010|
|Why this location?||We bought our home in this wonderful rural location mainly to give our children an amazing advantage. The area is so peaceful and safe, so they have the freedom to roam on their bikes and play out in the village, without us having to keep a watchful eye on them. There is no air or light pollution in this area, so the quality of the air we breath is extremely good, and the night skies are amazing with an abundance of stars!|
|Unique benefits of property||When we decided to embark on this project we did so with the principle that we wouldn’t expect anyone to stay in our accommodation unless we were completely happy to do so ourselves.<br/>Being set of the edge of the rural village of Janaillat, with have the added benefit of the outstanding views over the rolling lush green hillsides, which can be enjoyed whilst relaxing on our sun loungers around the pool terrace. We have transformed this derelict barn and cottage into a wonderful home and holiday rental cottage.|
Lovely beaches, watersports and mini-cruise
Labyrinth Gueret Giant offers a pleasant time on more than 6 hectares of greenery in the heart of the Monts de Gueret....a maze of activities to do with family or friends ...
Well worth a visit to see the wolves in their natural habitat
Lake Courtille in Gueret, a lovely location for a day out. The lake has a beach & water sports, in the summer months there are inflatables in the lake and lots of activities for all the family.
Take a tour around the Bison farm by Jeep, and visit the farm shop to buy your Buffalo steaks for the BBQ.
Family friendly French restaurant. Traditional cuisine.
Freshly made to order Pastas & Pizzas. Excellent Value for money. Family Friendly.
This beautiful gite was very spacious and well equipped to feel like “home-from-home”. It was spotlessly clean and well-coordinated.
The views from all aspects were amazing and it was so nice to eat outdoors whilst enjoying the fresh country air. The access to the pool area was good as we had small children and they could be watched whist we ate on the terrace. The pool and terrace area was very clean and inviting. They also provided a selection of toys for the children to play with which was much appreciated.
The owners Jane & Bryan were very helpful and friendly, as were their two boys Alex & James. The welcome pack was a really nice touch, and all their help and advice really made our holiday.
The location was good also, as we were not far from the pretty towns of Bourganeuf, Benevent and Gueret. We visited the lakes at Courtille in Gueret and Vassiviere, both had lovely beaches for the kids to play on the sand and paddle in the water.
The village of Janaillat is very quiet and relaxing, and it was so nice to take a relaxing walk or bike ride around the country lanes and on the dirt tracks through the woods.
This is an excellent gite and is ideal for a large family or two families holidaying together. We would definitely recommend this gite to our family and friends and we hope to come again soon.
Thank you for your lovely review, it was a pleasure to host you & your family. The children seemed to have so much fun in the pool and in the playhouse & slide in the garden. We hope to see you all again in the near future.
