This is a large rural holiday cottage that has been modernised and renovated to keep all its charming original features whilst adding modern touches to provide a relaxing, enjoyable and comfortable family holiday.
The cottage has 4 bedrooms (2 double and 2 twin), with one of the twin rooms being a family room with a double sofabed and can sleep up to 10 people. We can also provide a cot and highchair.
This cottage is one of two but each cottage is entirely private and self-contained, having its own patio terrace area with patio furniture and BBQ for al fresco dining. The 2 cottages share the heated in-ground pool and garden area, we have found after running the business for 8 years now that this works extremely well as the children from the 2 cottages make friends and entertain themselves allowing the parents time to relax and unwind, taking time out to read their book or listen to their music without interruption.
There is large private garden that is completely secure for little ones with loads of room for them to run around and have loads of fun with many outdoor toys.
The location of the cottage is ideal for a relaxing family holiday, and it’s only a short drive to the supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. |Year property purchased||2010|
|Why this location?||We bought our home in this wonderful rural village of Janaillat, mainly to give our children an amazing advantage. The area is so peaceful and safe, so they have the freedom to roam on their bikes and play out in the village, without us having to keep a watchful eye on them. There is no air or light pollution in this area, so the quality of the air we breath is extremely good, and the night skies are amazing with an abundance of stars!|
|Unique benefits of property||When we decided to embark on this project to renovate our two holiday cottages we did so with the principle that we wouldn’t expect anyone to stay in our accommodation unless we were completely happy to do so ourselves.
Being set of the edge of the rural village of Janaillat, with have the added benefit of the outstanding views over the rolling lush green hillsides, which can be enjoyed whilst relaxing on our sun loungers around the pool terrace. Iconic site 10km from Limoges on the edge of A20, the Pole of Lanaud, which extends over 33 ha, is the headquarters of the Limousine cattle breed.
The Pole de Lanaud is the seat of most organizations for the Limousin cattle breed, including the Lanaud Qualification Station. The Pole de Lanaud, which was one of the precursors in France in the creation of racial selection programs, has accompanied the exceptional development of the Limousin breed, in France and abroad, with the doubling of the number of Hexagon in 30 years (1,100,000 cows in 2014).
The Pole of Lanaud is remarkable for more than one reason: the site is included in the Registered Site of the Valley of Briance; the architectural ensemble designed by Jean Nouvel has been labeled "Heritage 20th century" by the Ministry of Culture and Communication.
Since its creation, the desire of professionals has been to make it a place of communication and exchange. The opening of the Limousine Park is a great opportunity to highlight this site and the work that is done there.

Follow In the footsteps of Impressionist painters
Claude Monet, Francis Picabia, Armand Guillaumin, among others, immortalize the landscapes of the confluence of the two Creuse, the banks of the Sédelle, the old fortress of Crozant , the light, the rocks and the heathers of this Valley, through their impressionist works.
Hundreds of artists set their easels in the heart of this wild and unspoilt nature, on the steep paths of this valley, as continue our contemporary artists, following their footsteps. You can do the same by walking in their footsteps, your notebook of discovery in hand and follow the Path of Painters, a short loop marked with bookmarks honoring the work of Claude Monet.
This cottage was the perfect place for us to house hunt in the region, and a super place for a family holiday. The location is close to all the main towns & villages in the Creuse. We spent a week In Bluebell Cottage, and we can't fault the cottage at all, it was so well equipped, very clean and a cosy house with a "home from home" feel.
The owners Bryan & Jane are very friendly and helpful, and gave just loads of advice about the area and things we need to consider before we move over here.
We ate out in several restaurants in Gueret, and can highly recommend Domespace (for a fantastic steak) and Le Pub (for a plat de jour).
We would definitely recommend the gites to our family and friends as it has all you can wish for in holiday rental.
Thank you for your lovely review & comments left in our guest book. We are so pleased you both enjoyed your stay in Bluebell Cottage and we wish you lots of happiness in your new home in France.
This beautiful gite was very spacious and well equipped to feel like “home-from-home”. It was spotlessly clean and well-coordinated.
The views from all aspects were amazing and it was so nice to eat outdoors whilst enjoying the fresh country air. The access to the pool area was good as we had small children and they could be watched whist we ate on the terrace. The pool and terrace area was very clean and inviting. They also provided a selection of toys for the children to play with which was much appreciated.
The owners Jane & Bryan were very helpful and friendly, as were their two boys Alex & James. The welcome pack was a really nice touch, and all their help and advice really made our holiday.
The location was good also, as we were not far from the pretty towns of Bourganeuf, Benevent and Gueret. We visited the lakes at Courtille in Gueret and Vassiviere, both had lovely beaches for the kids to play on the sand and paddle in the water.
The village of Janaillat is very quiet and relaxing, and it was so nice to take a relaxing walk or bike ride around the country lanes and on the dirt tracks through the woods.
This is an excellent gite and is ideal for a large family or two families holidaying together. We would definitely recommend this gite to our family and friends and we hope to come again soon.
Thank you for your lovely review, it was a pleasure to host you & your family. The children seemed to have so much fun in the pool and in the playhouse & slide in the garden. We hope to see you all again in the near future.
