This is a large rural 4 bedroom holiday cottage that has been modernised and renovated to keep all its charming original features whilst adding modern touches to provide a relaxing, enjoyable and comfortable family holiday.
The cottage has 2 double rooms and a twin and a twin/family room with a double sofabed and can sleep up to 12 people. We can also provide a cot and highchair.
This cottage is one of 2 but each cottage is entirely private and self-contained, having its own patio terrace area with patio furniture and bbq for al fresco dining. The 2 cottages share the heated in-ground pool and garden area, we have found after running the business for 5 years now that this works extremely well as the children from the 2 cottages make friends and entertain themselves allowing the parents time to relax and unwind, taking time out to read their book or listen to their music without interruption.
There is large private garden that is completely secure for little ones with loads of room for them to run around and have loads of fun with many outdoor toys.
The location of the cottage is ideal for a relaxing family holiday, and it’s only a short drive to the supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. The local boulangerie is a short 5 minute drive away for the daily croissant run. We have plenty of brochures and leaflets in the cottage to inform you about the many attractions in the area, and we are always around for you to ask us our recommendations or directions. The lakes offer lovely beaches and watersports, and there are many picturesque towns and villages with an abundance of history. So whether you want to be relaxing by pool or something more energetic Meadow view can offer it all and is the perfect place for your holiday.
The heated pool is cleaned on a daily basis and the pool terrace area is equipped with rattan sunloungers, settees, chairs and tables. We do also have sun parasols to screen those with sensitive delicate skin. There are wonderful views from the terrace and garden and we can let you know about the many walks or cycle rides along the country lanes and through woodlands. There is a steam just down the lane from the cottage where you can play “pooh sticks” from the bridge or try a spot of fishing.
Wi-fi is free to use and the connection is available in the cottage and all around the pool terrace. UK Sky TV and French TNT TV is available in the cottage and there is a DVD player and I dock.
Well equipped kitchen, with pot and pans, crockery, glassware, cutlery and utensils. Appliances include: Cooker with 4 ring gas hob, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, coffee-machine and 2 fridges (with freezer compartments). There is a separate freezer in the communal area.
There is a small table with 4 chairs in the kitchen and a separate dining room with seating for 8 plus a highchair.
The large lounge has 2 comfortable large sofas, UK Sky TV and French TV, and the original fireplace logburner which is very cosy in the winter months.

The shower room has a shower cubicle, toilet and wash basin.

The property has a logburner in the lounge/kitchen area, there are also electric heaters in the bedrooms (in the winter months).
A selection of boardgames, books and some indoor toys. The cottage has an I dock for you to play your music. The TV in the lounge has UK Freeview Sky channels and French channels and DVD player.

The property has a heated in-ground pool, that is maintained on a daily basis and has a constant temperature of 25°C. The pool is surrounded by a large terrace, that has ratten sunloungers, seating and parasols, and from here you can look out to the amazing views of the valley of Janaillat.
There is a large lawned secure garden with plenty of space for outdoor games.
There are many quiet rural lanes around the village for walking or cycling.
There is ample off road parking.
The cottage is very family friendly, and suitable for all ages. Unfortunately it isn't suitable with limited mobility.
The Creuse area has been awarded one of the best air qualities of France.
The property is "No Smoking", ash trays are provided outside.
We were both born and raised in Sheffield, England. Then in 2009 we have the idea about moving to France, firstly to have a more relaxed, stress-free life but also to give our children an amazing opportunity to learn another language and have the freedom to play-out without a care in the world! We found this property on the internet, and finally moved over to France in January 2010. We spent the last 3 years renovating a barn that we all live in and two gites.

|Why this location?||We bought our home in this wonderful rural location mainly to give our children an amazing advantage. The area is so peaceful and safe, so they have the freedom to roam on their bikes and play out in the village, without us having to keep a watchful eye on them. There is no air or light pollution in this area, so the quality of the air we breath is extremely good, and the night skies are amazing with an abundance of stars!|
|Unique benefits of property||When we decided to embark on this project we did so with the principle that we wouldn’t expect anyone to stay in our accommodation unless we were completely happy to do so ourselves.
Being set of the edge of the rural village of Janaillat, with have the added benefit of the outstanding views over the rolling lush green hillsides, which can be enjoyed whilst relaxing on our sun loungers around the pool terrace. We have transformed this derelict barn and cottage into a wonderful home and holiday rental cottage.
|

This was our second visit to Meadow View Gites, and we have now stayed in both cottages, and they are both just wonderful. Everything has been thought of and there was nothing more we could have wished for. The cottages are very clean, comfortable and very well equipped for us as a family with small children. Our girls loved the pool and they made new friends with the children staying in the other cottage. The owners Jane & Bryan are so lovely & helpful, and will give you any information you need about places to visit and events that are taking place. An absolute must to visit is Lake Vassiviere, the scenery is wonderful, and there is so much to see and do, but our girls just loved playing on the beaches and the climbing frame! We would definitely recommend this to our family and friends, and we look forward to coming again.
Thank you for your great review, it was a pleasure to host your lovely family, and hopefully we will see you all again soon.
Have recently come back from a great 2 week stay in Gite 1, Meadow View Gites and I would recommend it to anyone considering a stay in this area of France. We initially booked it (and paid a small booking deposit) through Holiday France Direct which was painless but all communication after that and payments were direct with the owners Jane and Bryan which was helpful. I must say that Jane and Bryan were great and were on hand to help with anything throughout. We were a group of 9 (2 families but mostly of adult age) and there was plenty of room in the Gite with four bedrooms (2 doubles, 1 twin, and 1 other twin with a double sofa bed in it) all large, located on the edge of the village of the tiny village of Janaillat with a lovely view over the hills and fields (and cows). If you are looking for hustle and bustle, this area of France is not for you, but for peace and quiet and lots of walking etc. it's great, plus the (shared) pool was welcomed. Do get out and about though. WiFi in the Gite was included, as were towels and linen etc. (not pool towels). Note that there was a small extra charge for WiFi by the pool but we didn't feel the need. It's not the fastest WiFi either but you are in the middle of nowhere after all! Mobile signals are also patchy. All the expected facilities in the Gite were good although only one of the showers was a stand-up shower in a cubicle. An electric kettle would have been handy though! British Freeview TV was available. In short it was great!
Thank you Ian, Shelly and the rest of the family, for your review, we are so glad you all had a fantastic holiday. Janaillat in the Creuse is a quiet rural location and ideal for a peaceful relaxing holiday, and many people find the intermittent mobile signal a real bonus! Hopefully we shall see you all again some time in the future.
