Beautiful Converted Barn In Quiet, Rural Hamlet. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Set in the heart of the Creuse countryside, this beautiful and sympathetically converted barn is in a modern yet traditional style set in a small, idyllic hamlet with sunny garden and patio area for sunbathing and barbecues.

Sleeping 6 people, this comfortable gite offers luxury with a modern wet room and well equipped kitchen and dining area. The lounge has French TV, wifi and comfortable leather sofas with plenty of leaflets on the local area.
Bedrooms: 1 Master double bedroom, which runs from front to back of the house, there are Velux windows and wonderful views. 2 single bedrooms with large antique single beds and 1 twin room on the ground floor with 2 single beds. A travel cot is available for very small children and all linen and towels are freshly laundered provided each week.

There is electric heating available and a heated chrome towel rail in the wet room. Outside in front of the other barns there is parking available for 2 cars. The garden has a bbq and is perfect for al fresco dining. With beautiful country views of the Limousin, you can walk for miles seeing farmland, woodland, lakes and plenty of wildlife.

We have an abundance of wildlife living here too. From Bats of differing variety (seen at dusk) there are Barn Owls, Little Owls, Long Eared Owls, Swallows, HooPoe, Buzzards, Red-Backed Shrikes, Black Redstarts, Common Redstarts and many insects, stag beetles and Butterflys. The larger animals that can be seen are: Coipu (Ragodan), Pinemartins (Martre), Deer, and of course the famous Limousin cattle.

Situated about 15km between 2 major towns of Gueret and La Souterraine. There are very good road links to the nearest towns Dun le Palestel and the N145 which takes 20 mins to Gueret and 20mins to La Souterraine.
Our nearest City; Limoges is only 45 minutes away.

The motorway network in this local area is free (no tolls). Outdoor activities:
There is ample opportunity for fishing, swimming, watersports and boating in the surrounding area. Plenty of designated, marked walks are on the doorstep and you can follow the Artist Monet when he resided here by taking the Impressionists' trail in neighbouring Fresslines. There is a Wolf Park and the worlds largest Maze to visit in Gueret and a Medieval Church and ruins in la Souterraine. See more links under general Information. This property is suitable for all able bodied people but could be restrictive to anyone using a wheelchair or who are unsteady on their feet. Access for wheelchairs would be via the front door of the house and the bathroom facilities are downstairs but there is a threshold across the exterior door.

Kitchen and dining

Modern and fully functional, this kitchen is part of the open plan lounge dining area. Furnished with all the equipment and condiments you would want on a holiday.
A bbq is also available for al fresco dining.
The dining area for 6 people is just next to the kitchen with fold out leaves for more room.

Living rooms

A comfy, cool lounge with 2 large brown leather settees, authentic beams and beautiful views of the local countryside. Tv and wi-fi available.

Bedrooms

There is a master double bedroom located on the top floor, which runs from front to back of the house, there are Velux windows, blinds and wonderful views. Wonderful antique bends with luxurious bedding means a comfy nights sleep.
Two single bedrooms are located on the first floor with large antique single beds, curtains and again soft and modern bedding.
On the ground floor is a twin room with 2 single beds, comfortable and with modern bedding, there is easy access for those less mobile. Also easy access to the downstairs bathroom.
A travel cot is available for very small children.

Bathrooms

There is a large, modern wet room with a large shower head. A chrome towel rail is available for towels wet clothing. The bathroom is spacious and well equipped with first aid box, mirror and sink.

Heating

Electric heating is available but you will not need it in the height of the hot Creuse summer!

Entertainment

French tv is provided, along with wi-fi.
We also provide many leaflets and tourist information for guests.

Garden and outside

An enclosed garden is available in front of the gite which is beautifully hot in the afternoon. A table and chairs are available for guests to enjoy al fresco dining.
You will not be disturbed by many visitors as this area is incredibly quiet and tranquil.

Outdoor parking is available for 2 family cars.

Visitor suitability

The gite welcomes everyone especially families with children, those who like a quiet country retreat. Those who have a interest in wildlife, walking, photography and the arts.
There is a Monet trail nearby, many, many birds and local wildlife to view and of course, many attractions for everyone else including restaurants, play activities the list goes on.

Why this location? We chose La Creuse because of its untouched, outstanding natural beauty, the abundance of wildlife, birds insects and wonderful countryside - a photographers dream! And we liked the quiet way of life, great for our children to grow up in!
