Myself and Chris, along with our two daughters aged 7 and 11 and our 6 rescue dogs relocated to France in May 2017 with the dream of running our own gîte business and having a simpler lifestyle. Originally from Jersey in the Channel Islands, our love of France set us on a journey which eventually brought us to Creuse, often referred to as the Lake District of France.

|Why this location?||Gite La Borderie is situated in St Silvain sous Toulx a small quiet hamlet but within easy access to two large local villages offering all the amenities needed. The gite is also in easy reach of many lakes for swimming, water sports and fishing as well as many other historical, cultural and family attractions.|

Historically part of the Bas Berry, Boussac has always been a territory of confluence notably between the Auvergne, the Limousin and the Berry through its weekly markets. The Jean de Brosse Château is one of the major elements of local heritage. Guided tours, but also discovery walks around the fortress, allow visitors to discover, among other things, old Boussac thanks to its pedestrianised circuit. Walking trails leaving from Boussac (for walkers and mountain bikers) allow you to discover an unspoilt nature and an astonishing small-scale heritage
The tower built at the initiative of Father Aguillaume, is located at the highest point of the mountain (655 m), at the location " Brûladis " at the site of the Gallic turn signals. It was finished building in 1957. From the top of the building which are arranged orientation marks, visitors will enjoy a panoramic view around 100 km spanning seven departments, and making it one of the best views of France.

A sacrificial altar, the Dieu du Tonnerre (God of Thunder) stones and those of La Guerre (the War), La Bascule (the Seesaw), Les Pains de sucre (the Sugar Loaves)… the Pierres Jaumâtres are a place of legends par excellence.At the summit of Mount Barlot, around 40 enormous granite blocks surge up and lean together at impossible angles.An amusing family outing to see, imagine, climb, touch… Careful though: the fairies are never far away. But don't worry, they enjoy being visited.
The only totally natural lake in the Limousin. This 100-hectare stretch of water, a national nature reserve, shelters more than 400 plant species and 600 animal species. Its shallow form (maximum depth of 2 metres; sandy bottom) encourages the development of numerous, extremely rare natural milieus such as reedy marshes
