About this property

Gîte with 3 En Suite Bedrooms and Pool. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Les Marronniers Gîtes is an idyllic former farm set in the tranquil Creuse department of France’s Southwestern Limousin region. Our three gîtes are side-by-side modernised stone cottages and retain many period features, such as exposed timbers and stonework. Thick stone partition walls prevent noise passing between them. Each has a character of its own, but each is fully set up for comfortable family holiday living, including heating for off-season lets ( a cosy logburner in Gîte 3). We have 7 acres of private gardens and a beautiful meadow with lawned gardens to the front and rear of the gîtes. A sun terrace overlooks the pool, and there are far reaching views to the forests lining the horizon.

Gîte 3 – This gite offers spacious and comfortable accommodation in country style, with all modern conveniences. On the upper floor, there are three generous bedrooms (each bedroom can be configured as either a twin or a super king), each with its own en suite bathroom (one with shower over bath), providing the comfort and privacy you require. If you need to cater for an additional small child/baby, just let us know and we can provide a cot or extra bed at no additional charge. Downstairs, there is a large kitchen/dining area, and a separate sitting room overlooking the pool and gardens. This gîte has underfloor heating and a welcoming log fire for cosy winter lets. Ample space for 6/8 persons plus baby.

Kitchen and dining

Each of the gîtes is fully equipped with a complete range of cleaning equipment, crockery, cutlery and glassware, cooking utensils, full size oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and barbeque. The washing machine and dryer are in a separate building next door and are available to use free of charge.

There is also a logburner for those cosy winter nights in with satellite tv (French and English) or if you prefer, we have a large selection of boardgames and dvd's in our Library, suitable for all ages and tastes.

France set strict safety standards for swimming pools. We support this initiative and require you to follow the common-sense rules for the pool, as well as other facilities. To minimise the risk of injury, or of damage to the pool liner, glass and sharp objects are not permitted within the pool compound. For safety reasons, we insist on the swimming pool compound being locked whenever there is not a responsible adult present. We are pleased to provide plastic glasses and picnic equipment for your use outdoors and in the pool area.
For the more energetic among you, there is a full-size trampoline.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Lisa McWilliams

We are a family of two generations from England running a gîte business and we love it! We fell in love with Les Marronniers Gîtes, (hard not to, when you see it for yourselves), and so we bought this beautiful rural property, taking over from some great hosts to build on the foundations already in place. We offer a warm welcome to guests that have visited before and our new guests yet to visit.

Year property purchased 2019
Why this location? Les Marronniers Gîtes are situated in Villeneuve, Creuse a small quiet hamlet but within easy access to two local villages Saint Sebastian and Eguzon offering all the amenities needed. The gîtes are also in easy reach of many lakes for swimming, water sports and fishing as well as many other historical, cultural and family attractions. Everywhere you go you will be passing through woods and lush rolling green countryside, populated by the world-famous Limousin cattle, as well as sheep, goats, ducks, horses and donkeys. Wild and cultivated fruit and nut trees abound, and wild-flowers now rare in Britain pop up on the field margins. Herons are a frequent sight, poaching fish from the many well-stocked étangs - somewhere between a small lake and a large pond - as well as hawks, kingfishers, and many other birds.
Unique benefits of property Gîte 3 has 3 en suite bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen/diner and a comfortable lounge with wood burning stove. It has underfloor heating throughout. Additional single bed/cot, bed linen and bathroom towels are provided at no extra charge. Welcome pack provided on arrival.

Etang des Landes

The only totally natural lake in the Limousin. This 100-hectare stretch of water, a national nature reserve, shelters more than 400 plant species and 600 animal species. Its shallow form (maximum depth of 2 metres; sandy bottom) encourages the development of numerous, extremely rare natural milieus such as reedy marshes

Fortess de Crozant

You must come and discover the ruins of the ancient fortress of Crozant. This site was one of the most powerful strongholds in France in the middle Ages. Today it remains the ruins of the towers of the 10th and 13th centuries, offering a magnificent panorama over the Creuse Valley, situated below. This picturesque site inspired many painters in the 19th and 20th centuries; among the most famous, Claude Monet, Armand Guillaumin... and gave his name to the School of Impressionist Painters of Crozant.

Lac Eguzon

The lake of Eguzon is located in a natural and preserved environment, it offers you the possibility of practicing multiple activities: canoeing, rowing, sailing, windsurfing or motor boats, fishing, hiking.
