We bought the property after working in France for a short period. We are now retired and love the Loire area as it is easy to get to but usualy warm and sunny in the summer. We love the local food and wine and the slower pace of life.
|Year property purchased||2004|
|Why this location?||The property is in the heart of chateau country so there is lots to see and do. It is accessible from England in a single day's travel but far enough South to enjoy warmer weather than in England.|
|Unique benefits of property||Spacious house and garden with heated private pool, ample parking and easy access to chateaux. The south-westerly aspect at the rear means that the pool is in the sun all day and the rear terrace is sunny until late into the evening.|
Interesting riverside town with a Sunday market and 2 chateaux including the Clos Lucé where Leonardo Da Vinci lived.
A wonderful fairytale chateau, large, beautifully set in parkland.
The famous chateau which virtually crosses the River Cher - everyone's favourite. A rowing boat trip under the arches is a must.
An excellent golf couse (one of several nearby) - a visitor said "fantastic - like millionaire golf"
Situated on the edge of the village. Local activities include fishing, watersports, golf and horse riding. A good area for walking, cycling and sightseeing. Wine-tasting available locally.
Lovely riverside town with river beach in summer. Boating on the river. Summer displays and shows in the castle. Plenty of restaurants and a market every Friday morning.
One of the best zoos in France is nearby - this shady zoo park has plenty of room for the animals including white tigers; and gives displays by sea lions and massive birds of prey.
