I was a primary school secretary in my old life and the best part of my job was my relationship with the parents as I just love meeting people. We moved in the summer of 2015 due to a change in my husband's job and so our adventure begins. We have been very fortunate to buy a house that has a cottage in the grounds .... So now it's time to turn our gîte business dream into a reality.
|Year property purchased||2015|
|Why this location?||Close to Romorantin where my husband works and when we visited the house before buying it we could just see the potential that it had|
|Unique benefits of property||You can't help but feeling relaxed once you arrive - the area feels so open and tranquil. The pool is beautiful - at 11 metres long you can actually swim properly in it - especially lovely in the mornings when the sun is rising above you.|
Located just 40 minutes away from the gîte is ZooParc de Beauval. Classed as the No. 1 zoo in France and as one of the most beautiful zoological parks in the world, it is home to the largest diversity of animals in France with nearly 6,000 animals including two giant pandas, found nowhere else in France! If you are visiting between March to September you can enjoy their two shows that take place in amphitheaters - the bird show 'Les Maîtres des Airs' and the sea lion show 'L’Odyssée des lions de mer'.

Located 6km from the gîte the medieval village of Mennnetou sur Cher is the village next to Langon. Lying partly in the Berry region, partly in the Sologne, Mennetou is a haven of peace for those who stop there. A rural district where agriculture is still a major factor, it has however a thriving network of craftsmen and tradesmen, industrialists and service professionals. As part of its on-going tourist activities, Mennetou sur Cher, is constantly re-inventing itself while retaining is original charm, regularly re-enacting fêtes related to the medieval festivals of the Middle Ages and providing torch-lit visits.
The town is the Capital of the Sologne region with 18,000 inhabitants and was created as a result of the merger of Romorantin and Lathernay 1961. It is a typical French town with a wide selection of shops including chocolatiers, jewellers, florists and antique shops in addition to its Wednesday and Saturday morning markets. The town is famous for it's Journée Gastonomiques which takes place during the last weekend of October. The local restaurants and a huge variety of street stalls set out to create traditional and original recipes. At the bottom of the town centre is the Motte Island Park which has the River Sauldre running around it and includes mini-golf and café in the main season. Although Chateau Beauvais is privately owned and not open to the public you can visit it's gardens which offer 13 hectares of open space for you to discover on your bike or on foot.
Located 60 minutes from the gîte St Étienne Cathedral in Bourges is a magnificent Gothic Cathedral which is based on the Notre-Dame in Paris. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its architecture, impressive sculptures and beautiful 13th Century stained glass windows.
A really lovely place to stay,clean comfortable and spacious, excellent accommodation, lovely scenery, peace and quiet and a fabulous swimming pool. A bakery and tabac are both within walking distance and if you don't want to walk there are bicycles you can use. The owners, Leann and Andrew couldn't be more helpful, they are excellent hosts and clearly are very good at what they do, amazing when you consider this is only their first year in France. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would, without hesitation recommend a holiday in Leann and Andrews lovely gite.
We will be back thank you both.
Thank you very much - we really enjoyed you being here. It's been a great summer meeting such lovely people. Looking forward to seeing you here - same place - same time next year xxx
We've just had a wonderful week- everything was absolutely spot on! The area is beautiful and very calm and we had fresh French bread from the boulangerie every day at the end of the lane. We were also able to borrow bikes and cycle around the village with ease. There were many interesting places within easy reach of the village by car and we visited Chenonceau, Chambord, Blois and Villancay to name but a few. The area is full of culture and history and Leann provides guide books in French and English to all guests and gave us lots of information on what we could do. On top of this there is a fabulous pool and plenty of room to relax. Thank you to Leann and Andrew for a great week- we plan to come back soon- a bientot! XX
Thank you. It was lovely to meet you both and hopefully will see you both again soon. The best bit of having a gîte is having a part to play in people enjoying their time here
This is a fantastic gite. Leann has taken enormous care in the renovation and furnishing. It is in a lovely, peaceful setting next to their house, which is stunning. There is a great pool, but unfortunately the weather wasn't kind to us, so we didn't get to use it.
The bed is probably the best I've ever encountered in a self catering property. The soft furnishings and attention to detail throughout the gite is first class. It is well stocked with good quality crockery, cutlery and equipment. The welcome pack is a nice touch.
The gite is well placed to visit the chateaux, which are many and stunning.
Leann and Andrew are a lovely couple who are on hand to assist if needed but don't intrude otherwise.
I can highly recommend this property. It is exceptional value and has many features you won't encounter in more expensive self catering venues.
Good luck for your future success Leann and Andrew.
