I was a primary school secretary in my old life and the best part of my job was my relationship with the parents as I just love meeting people. We moved in the summer of 2015 due to a change in my husband's job and so our adventure begins. We have been very fortunate to buy a house that has a cottage in the grounds .... So now it's time to turn our gîte business dream into a reality.
|Year property purchased||2015|
|Why this location?||Close to Romorantin where my husband works and when we visited the house before buying it we could just see the potential that it had|
|Unique benefits of property||You can't help but feeling relaxed once you arrive - the area feels so open and tranquil. The pool is beautiful - at 11 metres long you can actually swim properly in it - especially lovely in the mornings when the sun is rising above you.|
Located just 40 minutes away from the gîte is ZooParc de Beauval. Classed as the No. 1 zoo in France and as one of the most beautiful zoological parks in the world, it is home to the largest diversity of animals in France with nearly 6,000 animals including two giant pandas, found nowhere else in France! Located 6km from the gîte the medieval village of Mennnetou sur Cher is the village next to Langon. Lying partly in the Berry region, partly in the Sologne, Mennetou is a haven of peace for those who stop there. A rural district where agriculture is still a major factor, it has however a thriving network of craftsmen and tradesmen, industrialists and service professionals. As part of its on-going tourist activities, Mennetou sur Cher, is constantly re-inventing itself while retaining is original charm, regularly re-enacting fêtes related to the medieval festivals of the Middle Ages and providing torch-lit visits.
The town is the Capital of the Sologne region with 18,000 inhabitants and was created as a result of the merger of Romorantin and Lathernay 1961. It is a typical French town with a wide selection of shops including chocolatiers, jewellers, florists and antique shops in addition to its Wednesday and Saturday morning markets. The town is famous for it's Journée Gastonomiques which takes place during the last weekend of October. The local restaurants and a huge variety of street stalls set out to create traditional and original recipes. At the bottom of the town centre is the Motte Island Park which has the River Sauldre running around it and includes mini-golf and café in the main season. Although Chateau Beauvais is privately owned and not open to the public you can visit it's gardens which offer 13 hectares of open space for you to discover on your bike or on foot.
Located 60 minutes from the gîte St Étienne Cathedral in Bourges is a magnificent Gothic Cathedral which is based on the Notre-Dame in Paris. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its architecture, impressive sculptures and beautiful 13th Century stained glass windows.
Ideal place, Quiet, well supplied, Just what was required. Owners were great & answered all our questions & looked after the property very well. Will be going back.
We have taken gite holidays for over 30 years.
Leann and Andrew are exceptional hosts. Nothing is too much trouble.
The gite is one of the best we have stayed in. It is well equiped and very comfortable.
The grounds are beautiful and the views amazing. The pool is a great size and very well maintained.
The weather during our stay was scorching.
So perfect we hope to return.
Thank you very very much .... We enjoyed having you both here and it was especially nice as you were here for the two weeks which gave us more freedom but also gave us more time to get to know you both. It would be fabulous to have you stay with us again so please please keep in touch.
Thanks once again
Leann and Andrew
We had a wonderful stay. The setting is peaceful and the Gite is comfortable and spacious.
The gardens are beautiful and the pool, which is well maintained, is an added bonus.
There are plenty of visitor attractions nearby.
The owners Leann and Andrew were very welcoming and ensured that we had a good stay with nothing being too much trouble.
We would definitely recommend staying here and will be coming back ourselves soon.
Thank you very much .... It was lovely meeting you both and glad that you enjoyed your stay even though we had short periods of crazy weather. It would be great to have you stay here again but if you didn't want to come back too soon then please pop in for a cuppa on your way to your family in Limoges.
Take care and we are looking forward to an France V England World Cup Final ??????
We have used lots of gites over the years, some good, some bad, one really awful and now a real cracker!
All communications with Leann were friendly and helpful. We had the best directions ever to help us find Un Joyau Cache, including googlemaps - none of that, "The sat-nav says......" business. On arrival we were greeted with a refreshing cuppa and a nice little chat - all most welcoming.
The gite is charming with really good equipment. There is even a choice of t.v.s which would be really useful with children to cater for. The shower is great - really easy to master the controls. If you like swimming the lovely pool is a great bonus.
The village bakery - literally ten minutes' walk away - is a very helpful amenity although sadly the restaurant is currently closed, so one has to go a bit further afield. There is a good choice of supermarkets in Romorantin.
Leann and Andrew couldn't have been more helpful with any queries we had and they were genuinely concerned when Jane developed a medical condition right at the end of our stay. Luckily Villefranche-sur-Cher has a really well-equipped pharmacy with most friendly and helpful people serving.
Oh, and we were well placed to drive and see round several of the beautiful Chateaux and also to visit old friends in Amboise.
For this price in this position and such charming hosts look no further!
Oh thank you both for your lovely review....even though it is a little business for us it is very personal, especially for me and we try our best to make sure that people have a good holiday here.
We try to make the place a place that we would like to visit ourselves and a place where people can relax and unwind as lives are so busy nowadays and holiday time is so precious.
Health issues allowing, we do hope that we get to see you here again. Take care both and thank you once again
