Arrived in France in 2004. Love this rural life. Apart from running the gite I have a small wine tour business Taste the Loire. My husband who 'retired' in 2015 is now employed as my full time handyman. We have 7 horses. Two retired, 4 show jumpers and a pony which was my daughers first 'project'. We are not too far from the chateaux and vineyards of the Loire Valley which we visit on a regular basis. Tours a lovely old French Town, we visit when we need retail therapy.
|Year property purchased||2004|
|Why this location?||The property had two house one immediately habitable and the larger one becoming a gite after about 6 months work.
A perfect location as we needed land for our horses. A rural location but not to far from the rest of the world. We have since put in a heated pool and 6 boxes and a 45mx30m sand school.
|Unique benefits of property||The large garden of the gite is a perfect peaceful idle, with a sheltered heated private pool.
It's a perfect spot for a family or friends gathering.
Peaceful, private in the middle of the country with good road links to the area.
Bird song is wonderful and on a clear night the stars are spectacular.
Well behaved dogs are welcome.
We could do you a horse B&B too.

Le Maison was clean and tidy for our arrival.
The garden was fantastic for our two dogs - really good to have an enclosed area.
Pool was fantastic.
Beds were exceedingly comfy - slept very well indeed.
Good walk from Le Maison itself.
We all agreed that the settee was not at all comfortable - however the Ikea armchairs were!
Our stay benefitted from some Autumnal sunshine - we were very fortunate.
Jane and Doug were present but unintrusive hosts.
Recommend Poole/Cherbourg crossing.
La maison de maitre is a lovely house set in a rural location.
We had a lovely peaceful and relaxing week there. The garden was the highlight - this was where we spent most of our time. The pool is lovely and really well maintained.
There are local walks in which we saw wild deer and sitting out in the evenings watching the stars come out rounded off the days perfectly
Thank you so much for your kind words. It makes all our hard work worth it.
Jane & Doug
We had a really lovely stay at La Maison de Maitre. Our hosts were very welcoming and we had all we needed. There is plenty to do in the area but we chose to enjoy most of our time relaxing in the garden and in and around the pool. An excellent location as very easy to get to and also very peaceful. We would definitely like to visit again. Thank you
Thank you Melissa for your kind comments.
It make all our hard work worth while.
Hopefully we may see you again.
