About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Bev Bull

My husband and I have lived in this beautiful area of France for 16 years. We have renovated 3 houses sympathetically in the region for guests to enjoy a typically French experience. We are able to offer advice on the various activities and wonderful places to visit in the area. We can also share our local knowledge about places to visit that may not be in any guide books and also recommend restaurants locally and further afield.

Year property purchased 2003
Why this location? The area has so much to offer. Within a short distance from your holiday home there are lakes and open countryside for bird watching, beautiful towns and villages and of course the wonderful chateaux of the Loire Valley.
Unique benefits of property Our beautiful cottage has been sympathetically restored keeping the original charm of the old farm cottage but still has all the modern conveniences for modern day living. It is fully secluded in its own grounds of 25 acres with a lake and woodland yet close to amenities. There is a large swimming pool solely for the use of guests, several outside seating and dining areas. We have a vegetable plot where you can help yourselves to seasonal veg at anytime during your stay and also fresh eggs from our chickens. We also offer 4 course evening meals including wine and also a selection of homemade frozen food and pasta sauces made from our homegrown tomatoes.

The Owner Recommends

Favourite things

Loches (and its Market!)
One of Les Plus Beaux Detours de France, a jewel in the Loire. Its walled citadel is by far the most impressive fortress in the area. A lovely town to wander around and take in its historic beauty. There are many restaurants to chose from and we can let you know our favourites!
Market days are Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Popular with locals and tourists alike. Here you will find local wines and cheeses, fresh fruit and veg and local farms selling their produce.

Beaulieu les Loches
Only 1km from the centre of Loches yet relatively undiscovered. Its impressive Parish Church is built into the ruins of the Abbaye de la Trinite a Benedictine Abbey Church. Well worth a stroll around.

Les Plus Beaux Villages de France
Angles sur Anglin - a delightful pretty medieval village to explore. Situated on a gorge of the river its unspoiled streets are lined with attractive medieval houses.
Montresor - a quaint village on the river where you will find a lovely nature walk with views of the Chateau.

Brenne Regional Park
Land of a thousand lakes. A superb place for birdwatching and getting back to nature. La Mer Rouge is the largest lake and is close to the excellent Visitors Centre which has a delightful Restaurant serving dishes made with local produce, there is also a shop selling the local produce.

Chateaux and Gardens of the Loire
There are many famous Chateaux to visit such as Chenonceau and Amboise but locally we have the lesser known Azay le Ferron and Bridore both worth a visit without having the masses of tourists.

Zoo Beauval
Frances number 1 Zoo, it has the largest animal collection in Europe, including White Tigers and Pandas.

A unique leisure park, the only one of its kind in Europe. Renowned for its high-tech attractions and futuristic architecture.

Food and Wine
Sample the local Touraine wines and Sparkling Vouvray along with Sainte-Maure Chevre (goats cheese) rillettes and rillons.

La Chemoliere Is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for a beautiful rural setting surrounded by countryside and wildlife. The house itself was very tastefully renovated in a traditional farmhouse style and wonderfully equipped. The outside area was amazing. Massive space for the children to run around in and a seating area for every time of day. Lovely countryside walks all around. It was great to be able to eat the fresh vegetables grown in the garden and feed the chickens. The owners were on hand if needed but otherwise gave us complete privacy. It was a lovely tranquil setting which gave good access to the Loire valley region. The nearest town of Loches was about 20 mins away, very pretty and had everything you needed there. There was a fantastic animal park just 5 mins away and lots of other lovely places to travel to in approx 30 mins to an hour in every direction. The only minor issue was that the swimming pool was unheated which we did know before we booked it but we did not realise quite how cold the water would be so it could not be used quite as much as we would have liked. The WiFi was also a little hit and miss. But overall we had a fabulous time and would certainly recommend it as a lovely place to stay and enjoy its beautiful setting.

We spent an extremely relaxing week enjoying La Chemoliere, the swimming pool was very bracing 😃 But welcome in the temperature! The vegetables and fresh eggs we were able to help ourselves to were a very welcome addition to our stay. The kitchen was very well equipped and we made good use of the BBQ too! If you are in search of a peaceful, relaxing holiday La Chemoliere is the place to go!
