2 ACRES OF GARDENS AND HEATED POOL IN A PICTURESQUE VILLAGE WITH POPULAR BAR/RESTAURANT
Normally you have to choose either a village location or a large property in France. But with this property you can have both and can sit under the fruit and oak trees in the large gardens, swim in the heated pool, have a game on the property's boules court and then walk 100m to the local restaurant for lunch. It's only 15 minutes to the beautiful medieval town of Loches which has a food and wine market twice a week, or 40 minutes to chateaux like Chenonceau and Villandry or to vineyards of Chinon and Borgueil.
The property of La Cure consists of Les Roses (a grand 4.5 bedroom manor house) and La Lavande (a 2 bedroom cottage) which have been stylishly furnished and provide a fabulous blend of old and new. The houses share a common wall and have massive oak beams, antique tiled floors, delightful bedrooms and glorious church views. The property's two acres have fruit trees, gardens of roses and a large pool with a massive teak deck which is heated between June and September. Both the house and the cottage have antique dining tables inside and large wooden tables outside for alfresco dining under the oak trees.
Special "takeaways" of french meals can be arranged from local restaurants should you wish to eat at home without having to cook. There is a full description of each of Les Roses and La Lavande below.
The owners have made this property a special place to holiday. Some examples of small touches you won't find in most rental properties:
Lovely freshly ironed cotton sheets on all beautifully comfortable beds
A helpful and knowledgeable caretaker who lives offsite
Traditional petanque (boules) court perfect for afternoon games with a bottle of champagne
Recent Conde Naste and Vanity Fair magazines to browse
Picnic basket, cool box and picnic rug
Herb garden for guests' use
Lots of children's toys and books
Shelves of great novels and guide books
A fully fenced 2 acre property for children's safety
There are 8 good quality adults bikes (4 with baby seats), 4 children's bikes of varying sizes and a number of small trikes. The property is perfect for children to ride around safely (and to learn to ride) and there are numerous great rides nearby (suggested routes are provided). The 12th century grange has a pool table, darts and table football. Pets are not permitted at the property.
The village has a bar/restaurant, magnificent church and a street of troglodyte houses
Many of our guests love to cook and eat at home and the kitchens in both Les Roses and La Lavande are fully equipped with cooking and serving needs. Both have pod espresso machines, microwaves, dishwashers and gas cooktops (with electric ovens).
Les Roses has two living/dining rooms. One has a high ceiling with exposed beams and a grand, open fireplace, long antique dining table, sofas and cd player while the other is a lovely informal area (with a tv and wood-burning heater) with huge windows opening onto the courtyard on one side and the garden on the other.
La Lavande's living/dining area has antique tiled floors and windows opening onto both the courtyard and the garden. There is a tv and cd and dvd players and a wood-burning heater. The beautiful tiles extend through to the kitchen
Les Roses has 2 bedrooms in each of its 2 wings which makes for great privacy between families or groups. All bedrooms have exposed beams, slanting ceilings and one wing has antique terracotta floors, while the other has church views.
Bedroom 1 (Wing 1) - Queen Bed
Bedroom 2 (Wing 1) - 3 x Single Beds
Bedroom 3 (Wing 2) - Queen Bed
Bedroom 4 (Wing 2) - Queen Bed and Single Bed
Bedroom 5 (Downstairs) - Small Single Room
La Lavande has 2 bedrooms both of which have exposed beams and beautiful church views.
Bedroom 1 - Queen Bed
Bedroom 2 - Double Bed and Single Bed
Les Roses has 4 bathrooms (2 have showers and 2 have bath/showers) and also a toilet downstairs.
La Lavande has 2 bathrooms - one with a shower and the other a bath/shower
There is a huge open fire place in the formal living room of Les Roses and wood burners in both the informal living room of Les Roses and in La Lavande.
The property is in a picturesque village which has a popular bar/restaurant and providore, street of troglodyte houses and a beautiful 12th century church.
There is a food market each Monday in a village 5 minutes away and twice a week in the beautiful medieval town of Loches (15 minute drive) which has its own chateau.
There is a wonderful restaurant (regarded as one of the best in the Loire and about half the price of its equivalent in Paris) 10 minutes away. There are also lots of great local bar/restaurants in surrounding villages.
Many of the most beautiful chateaux of the Loire Valley such as Chenonceau, Villandry and Azay le Rideau are no more than 40 minutes from La Cure.
The wine areas of Chinon, Samur, Vouvray and Borgueil are all within an easy hour's drive.
The owners have spent many hours exploring their part of the Loire and have plenty of ‘inside knowledge' and have prepared notes to help you enjoy experiences which could easily be missed in a short stay.
La Cure is set in two fully fenced acres of fruit trees and roses with views over the stunning village church and surrounding countryside. There is a heated, fully fenced pool with a huge , a boules court (perfect for evening games with a bottle of champagne) and outdoor terraces with furniture and barbeques.
The 12th century grange (one of the village's oldest buildings) has a pool table, dart board and table football. The grounds are huge and fenced and are perfect for children to ride the bikes which are provided. The owners have also left a map of their favourite nearby bike rides. The fully fenced pool has a large teak deck, grassed enclosure and sun lounges. It is heated from June until September.
There is plenty of room for car parking in the garden.
This property is great for large groups of friends and family. It is designed for children of all ages, with toys, books, table football and bikes. Both the heated pool and the 2 acre property are fully fenced. All of the bedrooms are upstairs, so it's not suitable for people with mobility issues.
We are an Australian family who fell in love with the property and lived there for a year in 2004 to renovate it. Since then we return from the other side of the world every year for a holiday. We believe it is a special place to rent - a beautiful place which is our home and so offers something different to guests.

|Why this location?||Having a large house with 2 acres in the middle of a village is extremely unusual in France. It means you can enjoy the space and privacy of the property but be a 2 minute walk from the village's fabulous bar restaurant. The location is in the true beautiful and traditional Loire but only a 40 minute drive from famous chateaux and vineyards.|
|Unique benefits of property||The property is our home and so is carefully renovated with lots of small touches to make it a special and comfortable holiday. We have owned it as our 3 girls have grown up and so have designed it as a place which is wonderful and entertaining for children which also allows the adults to sit back and relax.|
Loches is a beautiful medieval town 15 minutes from home which has food markets in its cobbled streets on Saturday and Wednesday mornings. One of our favourite things to do is visit the market, buy some cooked chickens, baguettes, berries and bakery treats and have a picnic in the stunning park next to the river in Loches. You can also do a visit to the medieval donjon in Loches before the market. The houses have a picnic basket, cool box and blanket perfect for your picnic. Don't forget the bottle of wine!
