For really warm days just press the switch and roll out the electric sun blind. A substantial barbecue is handily placed on the sun terrace.

The pine buffet and well-equipped storage areas provide all the equipment necessary for cooking, wining and dining.
Decor includes useful local archive images and maps.
For more formal occasions our large oak table in the oak-beamed 'sejour' can easily accommodate 8 diners.

Living rooms

Enjoy relaxing in the oak-beamed lounge with sofas and easy chairs. Extensive book and games are available. For more formal dining away from the kitchen/dining area the oak table can seat 8. Tv and dvd player available.

For cooler evenings the integrated wood burning stove provides a cosy focus.

Bedrooms

There are two bedrooms on the first floor. At the rear of the house, with a balcony overlooking the garden, is the Master bedroom with a king-sized bed.

On the same level, at the front of the house is another double bedroom. This is known as the Tapestry Room.

The bathroom on this level provdes bath/shower, toilet, washbasin and bidet.

On the next floor are two further bedrooms. One, with a lilac theme, is a double. The other provides twin beds suitable for children or adults.

On this level there is a shower room with toilet and wash basin.

For the very youngest in the party we have available a travel cot. (To complement this we also have a high chair and a safety gate for stairs.)

Bathrooms

We have a bathroom with bath/shower, toilet, washbasin and bidet on the lower sleeping level and a shower room with toilet and washbasin on the upper level. In addition there is a toilet and hand basin within the laundry on the kitchen/dining level.

Heating

The house has oil-fired, radiator-based central heating. This is provided at no additional cost. The top level of the house uses wall-mounted electric heating. Again, this is provided within the overall rental. The lounge has an integrated wood-burning stove and wooden logs are available in the garden outhouse at appropriate times of year.

Board games and an excellent selection of books are provided.

Garden and outside

The house has a tiered garden to the rear. It's accessed from the sun terrace. It's backed by the trees of the 'coteaux' which border the Loire. Sit quietly for a while and deer, red squirrels and a great variety of birds may soon appear.

There is parking space for two cars on site. There's also ample space for safe storage of bicycles.

Visitor suitability

The house is suitable for most visitors. However, wheelchair access is limited.

Information about any additional facilities

The house is situated on the 'Loire a Velo' Cycle Path. Visitors who bring their bikes will appreciate the secure but easily-accessed storage at the rear.

In 2017 cycling enthusiasts will enjoy the Vintage Velo Rally on the 24th and 25th June in and around Saumur and actually passing the house itself.

On the 4th and 5th of August the winemakers of Saumur-Champigny stage the amazing Grande Tablée in the centre of Saumur. Sample different vintages and take away a souvenir wine glass for a nominal charge.

On the 6th August Chênehutte stages its annual 'vide-grenier' - lots of bargains, food and drink to be had.

1 Rue du Comte de Castellane 49350 Chênehutte-Trèves-Cunault.. A beautiful traditional French village house on the banks of the Loire which looked better than the advert!. The garden is idyllic and very tranquil. A patisserie 2 minutes away and several wine caves 20-30 minute walk away. This is a great base to get around to nearby towns. The owner is vey friendly and gives excellent information about how to get there, the best restaurants etc.We would recommend this property wholeheartedly.
