After successful careers in the UK we completed the purchase of Les Petites Cigognes in February 2006 and by Christmas all 3 gites and the swimming pool were completed. Les Petites Cigognes became our home, and we have welcomed guests from around the world. We feel privileged to meet the wide range of people who stay with us.

|Why this location?||The Loire Valley is renowned for so much, including its beauty, history, chateaux and wine. Having toured much of France with our children the decision on where to live became quite straightforward. The Loire Valley is within a days journey from the UK, has excellent communication links with the UK and the rest of Europe via the auto-routes as well as airports at Tours, Poitiers, La Rochelle, Limoges and Nantes. Combine all this with an excellent climate for ourselves and visitors and we are sure that as one of our guests you will find the same attraction to the area.|
|Unique benefits of property||Les Petites Cigognes is centrally located for most attractions of the Loire region; 45 minutes is the maximum time you would spend travelling to many locations. The small towns of Ligueil and Descartes are both less than 10 minutes drive and provide excellent interesting gardens and parks as well as shopping. Cussay is less than 5 minutes and has an excellent restaurant.
Our gites are located around a central courtyard which provides ample parking as well as an area for relaxing in the morning sunshine, shade if the afternoon sun becomes too hot and a boules court. The rear of the gites face west, giving uninterrupted access to the afternoon sunshine, the large heated pool, superb sunsets and large open skies for evening star-gazing.
Visiting a zoo is not part of our normal activities. However, Beauval Zoo is something very special and well-worth visiting. It currently has 2 pandas on loan from China.
The Regional Park which has over a thousand lakes. This is perfect for those wanting to do bird-watching, cycling or walking. Belle Bouche lake has a water sports facility and beach area open during the summer. We recommend eating at the restaurant the Auberge de la Gabriere overlooking a lake bearing the same name.
This small chateau is very close to Tours and made its name when Edward, Duke of Windsor, married Wallis Simpson there.
From Les Petites Cigognes you can easily visit a wide variety of superb chateaux, including Chenonceau, Villandry, Azay le Rideau, Riveau (excellent for children), Ussé and Chambord
A typically French restaurant providing good food in a very family orientated style.
The chateau is magnificent and recently restored. The large market takes place every Thursday. A visit here links very well with visiting a variety of Chinon vineyards.
Not to be missed, this market is held every Sunday morning.
Well worth a visit. The park is perfect for children and the gardens superbly maintained.
Futuroscope is one of France's most popular amusement parks but it is very different in being a park of the moving image. Films in giant format and other interactive activities make this a great day out for the whole family.
The largest animal park in the region.
Highly recommended for its menu, presentation and quality.
Fabulous value for money. This restaurant always lives-up to its Michelin-star rating.
As with all the restaurants, you are always given a very warm welcome and superb food at Cherizy.
Superb wines at superb prices. The English speaking staff will always find the perfect wine to suit your palate. Not to be missed!
Fabulous lunch and very good value for money.
A beautiful medieval town with a palace, chateau and keep. Every Wednesday and Saturday there is an excellent market.
Listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, Montresor has a lovely small chateau, pleasant river walk and a good café/restaurant.
Looking for something a little bit different? Museé Dufresne is housed in an old mill and is the work of an accomplished blacksmith. Maurice Dufresne devoted more than 60 years of his life to save an entire part of our past from fading into oblivion. An amazing museum well worth a visit and not quite what you might expect of a museum.
Whether you want to shop in modern Tours or visit historical sites in old Tours, this is the Departmental capital of Indre-et-Loire and should be included on everyone's itinerary.
