Having viewed Les Bertins on utube we had an idea of what to expect and we were not disappointed. We arrived to see a beautiful rustic farmhouse set in the Loire in the middle of the countryside. The house was amazing, it seemed so much bigger in reality and was very clean and tidy with added touches of wild flowers to make it feel homely. The kitchen was unbelievably well stocked with every gadget, dish and pan you might possibly need. As a party of 8 adults and 8 children we had plenty of room as the house was huge and there was also enough seating for all of us to eat with 3 different dining areas. The veg patch was a real bonus and we could help ourselves to anything eg; potatoes, onions, peppers etc. The pool was ideal and plenty of outside seating is provided. The owner Linda was extremely helpful throughout the whole process from booking holiday to leaving. There is a folder of information but I recommend researching the area before traveling as we were unsure of what day markets were held and what were best places to visit with children as there was so many leaflets. We did find a lovely lake half hour away which we took a dinghy to. We absolutely loved staying at Les Bertins with its amazing sunsets, peace and quiet and thoroughly recommend it to any large group. The old barn had a table tennis table which was a real hit with our group. The bedrooms were all clean and tidy and lovely bathrooms. Our favourite area was at the rear under the Vines overlooking the countryside which offered stunning sunsets. Thank you Linda for being so helpful we had an amazing holiday at Les Bertins.

Our 20th Summer holiday together 13 of us now, ranging from 7 to 47 years; first time in France and Les Bertins certainly didn't disappoint. From the moment we stepped through the door (homemade chutneys and wine were a lovely surprise, thank you) we knew we were somewhere special. This beautiful house has real warmth and oozes rustic charm. There really was something for everyone. Grown-ups loved the amazingly well equipped kitchen, a pot/pan/gadget for every occasion and the fantastic vegetable plot and fruit trees. Who needs the supermarche? Full use was made of the pool by everyone but was a real hit with the kids, as was the table tennis table. Teenagers loved the lounging area just as much as the adults. We could easily have spent the whole holiday at the house. We didn't. The Saturday market in Loches was a real treat. The Lake at Bellebouche on a sunny day for bathing, pedaloes and frites. The very pretty medieval town and castle at Montresor. Futuroscope by night! A theme park with a difference and a great find. Cheaper tickets if you arrive after 5pm. Finished the night with a light show. Well worth the drive. Brocante at Villeloin-Coulange. Bric a brac/antique/fleamarket heaven. Disappointed not to stay for the hogroast and bonfire. St Flovier. A short cycle (bikes provided, thank you) to the local boulangerie for those all important croissants and pain au raisins. Auberge de la Source came highly recommended. We spent a lovely couple of hours here. Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff, great with children AND delicious food. Our abiding memory of the holiday though, will be the house itself. The photos on the website really don't do it justice. Our favourite spot had to be the veranda, plenty of room for all of us. Lots of laughte.

We have just returned from a fabulous week at Les Bertins, there were 3 families staying, 6 adults, 7 children, 5 of which were teenagers. After a long journey we all arrived a little tired but this was all forgotten when we pulled on to the drive and saw this picture postcard home. The inside is spacious but also very cosy, there are 2 log burners for any chilly evenings but most nights were spent under the verandah, eating, chatting and enjoying a few glasses of local wine. The house really does have everything you need to cater for a large group, a well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds( many commented they had the best nights sleep for a long time!) hot showers and wonderful views. The description of the house is spot on, it was just as I expected, it is a real home from home. We have enjoyed the pool and played so many games and never once heard the dreaded words ' I'm bored' Linda is terrific, she made the planning of the holiday so easy, providing lots of info, answering any questions straight away. She adds lovely little touches, wine, chutney, French soaps and a basket of amazing home grown produce on arrival, you can also help yourself to the veggie patch which the children loved to do, our teenagers even cooked apple and blackberry crumble and tarte tatin all ingredients picked from the garden!! We did go canoeing in Descartes, and a day at Futuroscope which is worth a visit and; a lovely lunch at Auberge de la Source in St Flovier, good food at a great price. I would recommend this home to anyone who wants to experience what life really is about, good friends, great food, happy exhausted children!

We were a large family party staying at Les Bertins for two weeks. The house and setting were glorious, and the swimming pool thoroughly enjoyable. The owner, Linda, was extremely kind and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The previous party had not left the house in as good a condition as Linda had hoped, hence our score of eight for cleanliness, however, Linda had done her very best to rectify this. We were welcomed with wine, homemade bread, and preserve in the kitchen, and lovely soap in our bedrooms. This fantastic restored farmhouse is a great base to visit the Loire Chateaux or just to chill by the pool. The Auberge in nearby St Flovier is a must visit for anyone who enjoys good food at an excellent price. The kitchen garden which Linda and her family lovingly tend is a boon if you've forgotten veggies at the local market, you can just pop over to the garden and help yourself to the lovely produce! There is a charmingly friendly farmer who was gathering his crops during our stay, and although many people might have found his presence a tad intrusive, we thoroughly enjoyed watching him gathering in his harvest in the fields around the house. The huge barn next to the house was equipped with a table tennis table, boules, badminton racquets, exercise equipment, and bicycles all for our use. For a large group this house is beautifully equipped, and the kitchen had everything that you could wish for. Thank you Linda for sharing your glorious home.
