La Richardière is a peaceful and beautiful countryside retreat. It is over 200 years old and was once a fermette bustling with cattle, sheep, goats, ducks and chickens.

For those who wish to explore, La Richardière is well situated for visiting the many chateaux, vineyards and interesting towns and villages of the Loire and is a "stone's throw" from the Brenne National Park.

Patience was a stay-at-home mum when we lived in England. She has really enjoyed making La Richardière comfortable, stylish and welcoming for guests. Dave retired from his professional role as a Primary School Headteacher in December 2014. He is a practising musician and accomplished at playing traditional Fiddle music. Now he looks after the grounds, buildings and swimming pool.<br/>

|Why this location?||The Southern Loire is one of the most beautiful rural parts of France. It is uncluttered, neatly kept and almost traffic free which makes driving a delight and cycling possible in a wide variety of directions from La Richardière.|
|Unique benefits of property||La Richardière is set on a small hill between La Celle-Guenand and Le Petit Pressigny. There are wide skies with open views of the countryside. The gardens afford tranquillity and relaxation and our pool is a gem in the centre of the property. In the surrounding countryside there are so many things to do: Chateaux to visit, wildlife parks, fishing, bird watching, cycling, walking, wine tasting and fine dining.
We send out a Monthly Newsletter to all our guests, and to those who contact us, to keep everyone up to date with news and developments at La Richardière.
Beauval zoo is situated 45 minutes to the north east of La Richardière. It is an expansive natural setting where animals are, where possible, housed in open enclosures. The zoo has pandas from China and white tigers. Both are highly endangered species and can only be seen in a small number of zoos around the world. Beauval is one of those zoos. Spend the day, eat in the restaurants, and enjoy the magnificent bird of prey show which takes place every afternoon.
When our guests have visited somewhere they have enjoyed and can recommend, we make a note of this and add the details to our downloadable Visitors' Guide. This guide can be downloaded from our website.
There are many old houses/castles called Chateaux within easy reach of La Richardière. These include: Azay le Rideau; Chenonceau; Chinon; Riveau; Villandry, Charnizay and Ambroise (with Clos Luce next door - the retirement home of Leonardo da Vinci) - to name but a few.
There are many local villages and towns to explore. Many have weekly markets. Le Petit Pressigny; Le Grand Pressigny; La Celle-Geunand; Paulmy; Loches (Market on Wednesday); Descartes (Market on Sunday), La Roche Possay (Market on Tuesday). For those who are interested , there is a pottery in Ferriere Larçon which runs practical pottery sessions for visitors.
From Descartes (home of the eminent philosopher of the same name) and from La Roche Possay it is possible to hire canoes and explore the local rivers.
The Brenne Regional Park is situated just 20 minutes to the south east of La Richardière and is a superb regional park with thousands of lakes and is teaming with bird life. Excellent for those who wish to spend their time bird-watching. The whole area is well-supported with hides and viewing platforms. On our last visit we saw flocks of Cranes.
Just 25 minutes North of La Richardière, this is a new adventure park - in the trees. Ropes courses of various degrees of difficulty make their way through the trees where you can climb, swing, surf and ride bikes. All supported by the latest advances in security equipment. Great for all ages.
We were delighted with our holiday. What a treasure trove! Beautiful accommodation in exquisite grounds. Fantastic warm and inviting hosts who could not do enough to make us feel contented. Plenty to do for all the family on site - swimming, badminton, ping pong, boules, not to mention organised wine tasting. This felt like experiencing old France - how we remember it to be - very quiet rural surroundings, chateaux galore and markets for the cheese, wine and fruit lovers!
Couldn't recommend this enough to families or couples who want a peaceful retreat.
