About this property

A Calm, Delightful, Restored and Tranquil Setting. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Le Martinet is part of La Richardière and has been traditionally renovated to a high standard and maintaining many of the original features of the building.

The property is situated in rolling countryside to the South of the lovely Loire Valley. Over the years it has been carefully restored and transformed into the tranquil haven it is today.
Situated at the end of its own private drive, La Richardière is encircled by approximately 4 acres of lawn and orchards with extensive open views of the peaceful surrounding farmland.
For those who wish to explore, La Richardière is well situated for visiting the many Chateaux, vineyards and interesting towns and villages of the Loire and is a "stone's throw" from the Brenne National Park.
All of our Gite cottages have kitchens, shower rooms, bedrooms and living areas and are provided with dedicated wi-fi, English and French television, and outdoor barbecue areas.

Why not contact us to discuss your holiday plans. We would love to hear from you.

We have 3 Gites to sleep 11/12 people. Are you looking for a venue for your entire family? Why not consider booking all 3 Gites for your group family holiday.

The Owner Recommends

Beauval Zoo

Beauval zoo is situated 45 minutes to the north east of La Richardière. It is an expansive natural setting where animals are, where possible, housed in open enclosures. The zoo has pandas from China and white tigers. Both are highly endangered species and can only be seen in a small number of zoos around the world. Beauval is one of those zoos. Spend the day, eat in the restaurants, and enjoy the magnificent bird of prey show which takes place every afternoon.

Visitors' Guide

When our guests have visited somewhere they have enjoyed and can recommend, we make a note of this and add the details to our downloadable Visitors' Guide. This guide can be downloaded from our website.

La Promenade - Michelin Restaurant

Our commune village of Le Petit Pressigny has a very popular 1 star Michelin restaurant. Diners travel from far and wide to eat here at both lunch time and in the evening. Booking is essential and we can help our guests with that. We have a good relationship with the staff in the restaurant and especially Xavier - the Sommelierwho can provide you with some incredibly good local wines.

Castles and Chateaux

There are many old houses/castles called Chateaux within easy reach of La Richardière. These include: Azay le Rideau; Chenonceau; Chinon; Riveau; Villandry, Charnizay and Ambroise (with Clos Luce next door - the retirement home of Leonardo da Vinci) - to name but a few.

Local Villages

There are many local villages and towns to explore. Many have weekly markets. Le Petit Pressigny; Le Grand Pressigny; La Celle-Geunand; Paulmy; Loches (Market on Wednesday); Descartes (Market on Sunday), La Roche Possay (Market on Tuesday). For those who are interested , there is a pottery in Ferriere Larçon which runs practical pottery sessions for visitors.
From Descartes (home of the eminent philosopher of the same name) and from La Roche Possay it is possible to hire canoes and explore the local rivers.

The Brenne Regional Park

The Brenne Regional Park is situated just 20 minutes to the south east of La Richardière and is a superb regional park with thousands of lakes and is teaming with bird life. Excellent for those who wish to spend their time bird-watching. The whole area is well-supported with hides and viewing platforms. On our last visit we saw flocks of Cranes.

Just 25 minutes North of La Richardière, this is a new adventure park - in the trees. Ropes courses of various degrees of difficulty make their way through the trees where you can climb, swing, surf and ride bikes. All supported by the latest advances in security equipment. Great for all ages.
