Our secluded, lovingly restored old farmhouse is in a peaceful and tranquil south-facing location offering a well equipped, heated, comfortable, exclusive-use family holiday home accommodating 9 to 11 guests (including two cots). The four bedrooms consist of two double bedrooms, one large family bedroom and one twin bedroom. It is ideal for families and large groups with the advantage of 2 large lounge spaces and two kitchen areas.
La Baudiere is built around a large, south-facing, open courtyard which offers stunning views over the local farmland, woodland and our 10x4m swimming pool (heated by a specialist low energy, carbon efficient, solar system, in a secure area with safety-gate access). Beyond the pool is a small, grassy, kiddie play area with swing set, sandpit and various toddler toys.
Our house is well equipped with a large, main kitchen which has a spacious table that can seat up to 12, large oven, induction hob, microwave and dishwasher. The second, smaller kitchen seats 4 and includes a washing machine, ironing board etc. We have two spacious lounges, each with UK satellite tv, comfy sofas and coffee tables, bookshelves with a selection of books and games and dvds for guests' use. Both lounges open into the kitchens and also out on to the sunny courtyard.
Outside are 2 built-in charcoal barbecues for alfresco mealtimes; one is in the pool area next to a large wooden table with chairs and lounging seating under the shady gazebo, the other is under the front of the open barn with a large table and plenty of chairs .
Large wooden gates at the courtyard entrance ensure privacy and child safety; we have plenty of space outside to park up to 5 cars.
We are situated close to the historical medieval village of Faye la Vineuse with its 9th century church and post office/grocery/bakery depot/shop. There are several beautiful walking/cycling routes for our guests to explore in this area too.
Nearby are several other villages with restaurants, shops, bakeries. We are ideally located in the Loire region for exploring the beautiful countryside as well as such attractions as horse riding, go-karting, canoeing, zoos, cycle routes and golf courses; the historic towns of Richelieu, Chinon, Saumur, Tours and Poitiers, the famous chateaux of Chambord, Blois, Amboise and Chenonceau.
Big fully fitted kitchen/dining area(seats up to 12) with huge patio window/doors to the courtyard. It has an induction hob, electric oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, plenty of crockery, utensils, pans etc. The main kitchen has an induction hob with a collection of pans suitable for that hob. The smaller kitchen has a gas hob, good quality (porcelaine) crockery and sturdy cutlery for up to 12 in main kitchen, smaller set up to 4 in the smaller kitchen. Plenty of glasses, casserole dishes, serving bowls and plates too. All our crockery pots, pans and utensils are dishwasher friendly. We provide plenty of dishwasher tablets for all our guests. Large refrigerator/freezer in each of our two kitchens, each have large capacity storage. You will find a small selection of herbs, spices, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper in stock. Also Nescafe sachets, tea bags, sugar and a carton of milk; tinfoil, cling film, kitchen roll.
Large lounge has feature log fireplace, antique dresser and big comfy sofas; coffee table, UK satellite tv, dvd, IPod speaker connection. By the fireplace is the link door to second lounge with UK tv, gas fire, sofas, large oak dresser. Each lounge contains a modern television linked to UK satellite free view. Outside stereo speakers available too, also a connection for your IPod or similar which can be played inside or outside. There is a small library of books, a selection of films for guests' use and a small selection of games for young and old.

One family bedroom containing a double bed, single bed and space for up to two cots, en suite bathroom.
Master bedroom contains kingsize bed, access to shared en suite bathroom, Twin bedroom with two full size single beds with shower room next door.
All the beds have continental quilts (duvets) and 2 pillows per person.
Bed linen, large bath towels and extra pool towels per person are provided.
For 2 week bookings we change all linen and towels on the middle Saturday free of charge.
Two cots and highchairs are available on request at no extra charge. There is a safety gate for the staircase. We have hairdryers and UK plug adapters for guests use.
Ground floor shower room has a large glass walled walk-in shower, sink and toilet.
Upstairs the main bathroom contains a large full bath, a separate walk-in shower, sink and toilet.
Second shower-room contains a shower stall with glass door, toilet and sink.
All our bathrooms are equipped with liquid hand soap in dispensers, hand towels and an ample supply of toilet rolls.
We supply a large bath sheet towel per person, large pool towel per person. Bathroom hand towels in each shower/bathroom.
Large fireplace in lounge with log burner insert. Logs and firelighters available but we hope you will be plenty warm enough without lighting it!
There is a small wood burning stove in the main kitchen, nobody has needed this in the summer yet!
Electric radiators are available in each bedroom, also electric fans for when the weather is hot.
Our internet (wi-fi) is free of charge. However, because we have only our own satellite dish, amount and speed is very limited so downloads and streaming are not possible.
Each lounge contains a modern television linked to UK satellite free view.
We have a selection of films for guests' use, books and family games.
We have outside stereo speakers available too, also a connection for your ipod or similar which can be played inside or outside.
Our solar panel heated pool is for the exclusive use of our guests. Steve cleans and maintains it daily for you. We provide inflatable pool toys for young and old and we have plenty of sun loungers, parasols and small tables.
We have two large, built-in barbecues - one on the main terrace, the other in the pool area by the shady gazebo seating area.
We have small grassy areas for the children's play area and the ping pong table.
We have toddler toys in stock for small children as well as our kiddie play area. We also keep a supply of swimming pool toys.
We have a small herb garden, guests are welcome to pick some herbs! At the back of our house is a small orchard.
In the open barn there is plenty of space to dry your washing, we have two washing lines and a drying rack. A bag to carry washing and a box with plenty of clothes pegs are available too.
We have outside parking space for up to five vehicles plus trailers.
We regret that we are wheelchair inaccessible as sadly our doors are too narrow to accommodate a wheelchair, however for those of reduced mobility, our ground floor double room with adjoining walk in shower room is ideal. Next to it is the smaller kitchen.
We are happy to accept pets and can help arrange the relevant appointments at our local vet for the return trip inoculations.
Although I bought La Baudiere in 2000, I was only able to spend a few weeks a year here until 2007, when I gave up my job and moved here full time. Restoring the property and grounds has been a labour of love and I now at last enjoy sharing my beautiful home with my partner, Sue, our two Bernese Mountain dogs Elsa and Bruno, our families and friends and the many guests who book to stay each summer.

|Why this location?||The Indre et Loire region of France is so peaceful, it has such a wonderful summer climate and is of so much historic interest that, after several years of holidaying here with my young daughters, it was a natural progression to purchase a property. I fell in love with this (then derelict) house because of its stunning views with colours that change with the crop rotation and the seasons.<br/><br/>As this area of France is known for having the second most hours of sunshine annually after the Riviera, a priority part of the major restoration project was the installation of the swimming pool! <br/>|
|Unique benefits of property||Although La Baudiere is located in such a tranquil, rural setting, all amenities are close by and travelling here from the UK can easily be achieved within a day. Three airports are in easy reach and travelling by car via a variety of channel crossing points is also straight-forward.<br/><br/>La Baudiere, its courtyard and pool area all face south and enjoy hours of sunshine all year round.|

The 2016 Tour de France is scheduled to pass close to our house on the leg from Saumur to Limoges. Come and join us to celebrate the biggest event in the cycling calendar!
What an amazing holiday, from the moment of enquiry through booking to arrival the owners Sue & Steve communicated with us all the way, they were so helpful. When we arrived they were there to greet us, and continued to help us as & when we needed them, ie with maps on days out, booking our dog into the vets for our return trip, Sue even accompanied us to translate. This made our holiday totally stress free.
The house is a beautiful house with everything you would need for a carefree holiday, it was clean, & well maintained, towels for indoors, & the pool were supplied, there were even extension leads for any electrical items, each room had hairdryers, & had plenty of room for 2 family's, the pool was cleaned, & uncovered for us by Steve daily.
There were sunbeds, brolly's, and cushions, tables, chairs, & a poolside bbq, & even blow up rings etc for the pool, a perfect chill out area to enjoy the sun, against a breath taking back drop of beautiful countryside.
The area is peaceful & has lovely walks, there are plenty of markets, and some beautiful towns to visit like Richelieu are easy to get to, with its big supermarket & petrol station. The people are friendly.
I would definitely recommend this property to anyone, especially if you are looking for a carefree holiday in a peaceful beautiful location. And the icing on the cake is having help should you require it!
