Riverside Cottage is a lovely little property which served us well for our break. The outstanding feature has to be the terrace overlooking the river, wonderful for those quieter moments. The weather was such that we made good use of the BBQ and outdoor space. Just enough in the village to keep us amused with walks and local amenities. Many beautiful and interesting towns/villages within a short travel. Overall the cottage was very clean and comfortable and we had a very restful and relaxing break with an excursion each day which never disappointed. Will definitely consider a return visit!
We had a fantastic time at Riverside Cottage and made use of the lovely sunny terrace each day. There was everything that we needed in the cottage and it was clean and welcoming. There are many things to do nearby and Denis has been so helpful in providing relevant information. We recommend this cottage if you want a relaxing break!
The cottage was perfect, plenty of room and very clean. Marie Claude met us on arrival and gave us all the information we needed as well as making sure all was OK. Very peaceful and relaxing holiday we felt as though we were experiencing the real France. Lots to do in the area, but not touristy at all. We spent the holiday pottering and exploring the local region and really had a lovely holiday. The cottage was beautifully situated in the village, very rural and quiet. If you want peace and to relax this is the ideal place
The property was correctly described and was spacious, clean and well maintained. There are 2 bedrooms but access to the top bedroom would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The garden/outside space was really fab, well fenced on either side which made it really private. It had open views of the river, and was perfect for sitting out in. The owner had a lovely local lady available to help with any issues or advice on the area.
The village of Barrou is a typical small French town, very few people in evidence. We used the boulangerie every day for our bread and had a real value for money meal in the local restaurant "Les Tilleuls". Don't expect a town with a square with lots of cafes and restaurants, but you don't have to travel too far to find this.
The owner was a really lovely man to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble for him.
We would highly recommend it.
