|Ciel||Self Catering||Flexible||1||2||2||Additional comfortable sofabed for 2 people|
Ciel is a delightful, fully equipped but still traditional gite in rural France. It was renovated during 2017 to a good standard, many new items were added including dishwasher, cooker, woodburner and multiple items of furniture including double bed and new linen throughout. It is a one bedroom property which, taking advantage of the new, comfortable sofa bed downstairs gives plenty of space for up to 4 people, each couple can also have their own shower room as this property boasts 2.
Ciel has its own private space and raised decking giving uninterrupted views over the onsite 25m pool and further over open countryside. There is nothing better on an evening than sitting with a glass of wine and taking in the moment.
Wi-fi is available throughout the property.
An open plan, newly rebuilt kitchen gives a clean and bright area in which to prepare food. A dining table can be extended to fit up to 6 people if required.
The living area is again open plan with functional oak beams running along the ceiling. The corner of the living area has a wood burning stove for the winter nights and also a door onto the private patio below the scenic seating area.
The large bedroom offers ample space and also gives access to the raised decking for those long summer evenings with a glass of wine in your hand. Inside there are oak beams supporting the high roof and a separate reading chair positioned to give one eye on your book and one eye on any comings and goings that may (or may not!) take place.
This gite benefits from 2 shower rooms, one upstairs and the other downstairs. The upstairs has a hand shower, sink and toilet and is clean and bright. Downstairs is the newly refurbished bathroom giving a large walk-in shower/wet room suitable for wheelchair access, a hinged screen folds back to offer ease of access to the toilet and sink.
A woodburner provides a functional and romantic ambience although electric wall heaters are located around the property.
Various outdoor activities are available as well as boardgames and a selection of books.
Ciel benefits from its own private patio and decking areas along with a small garden area separated from the main grounds by hedges. Visitors are welcome to take a stroll to the edge of the land and find a peaceful area in which to relax or play ball games. We have 3500 square metres and numerous trees under which to seek shade.
As well as having privacy, there is also an area set up to encourage socialising under a shaded barn, this can be set up with a screen and projector or just tables and chairs for an evening sharing the experiences of the day.
Ample parking available.
Suitable for people looking for a great base from which to explore. The comfortable sofabed downstairs and easy access shower room make this wheelchair friendly, please contact us for more information on this.
The onsite 25m pool has been a new addition through 2018, it is a constant depth along its length and is available free of charge to guests
For larger groups we have other properties in the same location, each has its own individual area but all can be rented as one - discounts will be available for multi gite bookings.
I was an office administrator who enjoyed the temping life of meeting new people and facing new challenges. My husband Steve worked from home, tied to a desk and working with the technical landscape within a successful software company. Our daughter flew the nest for university life. One week whilst on holiday in France we decided to change from the pressures of 'real life' and experience real 'life'.

|Why this location?||Civray is within the Indre et Loire department of France, renowned for its open countryside, multiple chateaux and calm pace of life. On the edge of the Brenne National Park, giving access to the Mllle Etangs (thousand lakes) it doesn’t get much more rural than this, however, the triangle of La Celle Guenand, Petit Pressigny and Grand Pressigny give all the local conveniences that are required.|
|Unique benefits of property||The gites have all been renovated to a high standard through 2017 when we took over ownership, this makes almost everything new. 'Ciel', French for 'sky' has a first floor raised decking area that gives privacy and stunning views across open countryside through the day and a jaw dropping starlit sky in this area of zero light pollution.|
Looking for an authentic French restaurant that gives good quality without breaking the bank, then Grandma's in Le Grand Pressigny is the place to try. Good choice of dishes, some of which are for the brave means you will find something that appeals. Chez L provides a more conventional menu and a friendly ambiance in which to enjoy the warm summer evenings
The property is perfect as a base for visiting any of the 80 plus chateaux which are within easy reach
Beauval Animal Park is a great day out for the kids and adults alike. The little panda born in 2017 always raises a smile
We had a lovely week at Gites at Civray. the gites surround a central area with a covered communal space with overhead projector and screen.
We stayed in Ciel (sky), the view from the upstairs deck across the valley is superb. The gite was really clean when we arrived and included a few essentials (France is famously shut on a Sunday) which included pasta and pesto, milk, tea, coffee and sugar. The fully equipped kitchen with fridge, dishwasher and gas hob & oven meant we only ate out once during the week.
There is plenty of parking and as I write this (June '18) the pool is waiting to be installed (it arrived the week we were there)
We spent the week exploring the area venturing to Tours (50k) to visit some chateaux as well as Loches (a beautiful Royal town) and Azay le Ferron both superb local towns with a fantastic history. Every town we drove through was 'typically French'.
As a cyclist I was delighted to find the roads not only quiet but also in fantastic condition that puts roads in the UK to shame.
The local town of La Celle Guenand has a small epicerie that shares space with the town's bar (very handy) and Chez L in Le Grand-Pressigny does a short but excellent food menu.
Thanks to Jenny and Steve for their warm welcome and the very best of success in their venture.
