A little piece of heaven. The house is beautiful set on a hillside overlooking a small village. The house has been renovated very tastefully with marble floors and a sweeping staircase. The owners have put in a new kitchen and provided everything you could possibly need and the information they provide when you book is extensive and very useful. There are lots of places to go and chateaux, towns to visit nearby. But the real beauty is when you are sat on the terrace, glass in hand watching the sunset and all you can hear is birdsong and the occasional tractor. Red squirrels pop in and out of the wooded area too. If you are looking for a really restful, peaceful break in a lovely house in a beautiful location this is the place for you. We are returning next year.

Bruno and Ritva, the owners, were very welcoming, very helpful and also knowledgable about what to do and where to go. Their directions made the gite very easy to find and their information sheets were very useful.
La Belle Etoile has been tastefully converted, retaining much character and is very spacious, light and airy. The gite is both comfortable and well-equipped, everything was clean and tidy and worked well but the highlight has to be the lovely terrace with stunning views over nearby countryside. The swimming pool is well-maintained although we didn't use it very much opting instead to relax on the terrace.
There was a local bar/cafe in the village (5 minute walk) where we enjoyed a good meal which was very reasonably priced although the owner speaks very little english. A large Super U with petrol station and a Lidl are easily accessible in L'lle de Bouchard (about 10 minutes drive away). The gite is well located to visit numerous chateaux and other nearby attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Belle Etoile and would certainly recommend it to others.

A fabulous setting for this beautiful gite - the view from the bedrooms was stunning. In the mornings you can hear the chickens and the odd farm machine across the valley but that's about all. The terrace has a huge table and is a wonderful place to take a glass of wine and a book. That, coupled with a large garden and lovely pool just up the hill, makes it a great place for a relaxing holiday. Chinon itself is only 15 minutes away and we loved the Thursday morning market there with lots of local vegetables and cheeses on sale. We also adored the 'choucettes' (pastries) that Bruno suggested that we buy which we ate with our coffee at a cafe overlooking the market square.
We also visited the Chaumont garden festival while we were there which was wonderful and there are lots of other places to visit within easy reach.

The gite itself has bags of room and lots of new appliances etc for everything you need. We ate all our meals on the terrace as the weather was so good but there is an enormous living/dining area if you need it. Meals out were of a very high standard and we loved the fact that the locals were friendly and the roads were quiet - we felt that we were visiting the 'real' France. The owners themselves were also very friendly and helpful and we were even visited by an inquisitive ginger cat! We would love to go back again soon to enjoy the stunning countryside and try a few more of the local Loire wines...
