La Belle Etoile is our gite in the Loire Valley region.
There are two completely separate and independent gites in the grounds-this one (La Grange) and a larger 6 person gite La Maison (advert ref VI005903).
Both gites are registered "meuble de tourisme" and following an independent inspection have been awarded 4 stars (out of a maximum of 5 - for more information please go to the following website:- https://www.classement.atout-france.fr/meubles)
The Loire Valley is an area rich in history and culture, which has attracted people from before Romans to the present day.
Located in a regional park, the gite is an easy drive from a number of the stunning chateaux and estates which are located in the “Garden of France”.
A wide variety of local wines and produce make the area a gourmet’s delight, with a range of excellent restaurants to discover in nearby towns and villages.
The rural and tranquil nature of the area with its rivers and forests makes it an ideal spot for outdoor activities including swimming, walking, cycling and horse riding.
The gite is situated on the side of a small valley in the village of Avon les Roches. It has beautiful views of the village and the surrounding countryside. Avon les Roches is a quiet village 4 km from the town of L’Ile Bouchard. L’Ile Bouchard has restaurants, banks, 2 supermarkets and local shops.
The larger towns of Chinon, Azay le Rideau, Richelieu and Ste Maure are all 15/20 mins by car from Avon les Roches and have weekly markets where local products can be bought.
The gite is 85m2 over two floors. The interior is contemporary with the rooms on the first floor having spectacular views of the the valley of the Viennne and the surrounding countryside

The living room is on the first floor with spectacular views over the valley of the river Vienne. It's high ceiling and exposed wooden beams give the room a light and airy feeling.
There are 2 bedrooms on the first floor. Both have en suite shower rooms and also have a larger picture window giving panoramic views over the valley of the river Vienne. The larger bedroom has a king sized bed. The smaller bedroom has 2 single beds. Both bedrooms have a wardrobe and chest of drawers.
There is a separate wc. Each bedroom has its own shower room.
Electric heaters in all rooms.
There is a flat screen tv with access to UK and French television and radio channels. There are books and family games available.
Bicycles are available. There is an outdoor table tennis table, badminton set and football goal in the adjacent field. These are freely available and shared with the other gite.
The 2 gîtes are located in grounds of approximately two acres. The gîte has 2 patios, one at the back which gets the morning sun and the other at the front which gets the daytime/evening sun. The patios are equipped with a barbecue and ample garden furniture.
There is a 10m by 4m saltwater pool which is shared with the owners and the other gite. The pool area has views of the countryside and has ample sun loungers and deck chairs
There is parking adjacent to the gîte.
The adjacent gite which sleeps 6 is available for rent and the two properties would make an ideal place for a large/two family holiday. Please contact Bruno and Ritva to check availability of the two properties.
La Belle Etoile is part of a few buildings that used to form one farm and the owners, Bruno and Ritva, live next door in the old farm house. Ritva is from Finland and Bruno is bilingual in English and French. They have owned their house for 30 years and know the area very well. They will be happy to help you with advice about the area if you need it while you are staying, or of course leave you to enjoy the peace and tranquility if that is what you prefer.

La Grange is a lovely new barn conversion located in a beautiful area. Because the conversion is new, everything inside is new, clean and modern. The kitchen has everything you need and there is also a utility room. My children particularly liked the shower in their room which is large and powerful. As is the shower in the main bedroom. The upstairs living room had the TV and satellite TV and Netflix to sign into with your own account.
The owner was around most days and available in case anything wasn't right (everything was just perfect while we stayed).
We spent most days by the pool or out and about in the car and in the evenings had dinner on the upper patio while the sun went down.
Attractions include the tree top (Go-Ape) like activity was great for the children and was about a 25 min drive away. More locally the Tourist Cave of Panzoult was great for a very local short trip which was a visit to some caves and learning about wine making and having the opportunity to taste and buy local wine. The whole family enjoyed this, albeit it's a little difficult to find.
The is a nice bar in the village which serves food. Check the opening times on its front door!
This property probably isn't ideal for those who aren't very mobile, because there is spiral stairs to the upstairs.
We have just returned from our stay in this lovely barn conversion.
It is equipped with everything you could possibly need, including the swimming pool which was very welcome as we were there during the heatwave at the end of June.
We visited Saumur, Chinon at a Classic Car Rally, Langeais and various other towns. There are lots of chateaux and other attractions withing driving distance although we were quite happy to stay at the side of the pool or on the patio admiring the scenery. Lots of wildlife in the area.
There is a choice of good restaurants within easy driving distance, we ate out mostly at lunchtime and enjoyed barbecuing in the evening with a few glasses of the local wines.
The owner is most helpful and friendly and we cannot recommend the place highly enough!
