Languedoc Roussillon sports many horse riding routes. For anyone who enjoys both horse riding and history, then taking to the saddle and following the Cathar Trail will be sheer delight. This trail takes you past 2 Cathar castle ruins as it meanders through the Pyrenean foothills. For even more dramatic scenery, then try the Circuit de Traboucagres which takes you on a route through the Pyrenees and across into Spain. Of course one of the most famous regions in France for horses is the Camargue down on the coast. Choose one of the many stables in this area and ride out on these beautiful white horses across the salt marshes where they've lived for thousands of years.
