Easy to use although advertisers should have to follow a standard with regard to what exactly they are providing. Some are very informative others you have to go back & forth asking questions. Can be frustrating

We can't praise Holiday France Direct highly enough, their service is fantastic, it's consistently professional, helpful and friendly. They are very active on all social media platforms and always re-tweet and like our own tweets so that helps us be seen by a wider audience. They have also sent us the most wonderful guests so if I could give them 10 stars out of 5 I would!

We advertise with Holiday France Direct and several other companies. Holiday France Direct simply walks away with First Place - for the last seven years we have advertised we have received a regular flow of guests - all of which have been good. The advert itself allows you generous space for info on the property and ample photos. If we ever have a query the staff are extremely pleasant to deal with and any query is dealt with immediately. For an extremely reasonable advertising price we also get a generous discount on one return crossing plus a 20% discount for our guests which has proved to be a big incentive. You have complete control of all correspondence, arrangements and payments with your guests - their e-mail address is available at the onset.

Holiday France Direct is a website that enables you to book ferries to Europe and accommodation when you get there. There are a very competent service and very customer orientated. The website is easy to use and you get good information about the place you are booking. The owners of the holiday homes get a Brittany Ferries discount code for their guests to use on their ferry ticket. All in all it's a good way to sort out a holiday on the continent.

How to Advertise your Holiday Property: Preparing your Advert

Preparing your Advert

Your next step is to prepare your advert. In order to make your property more appealing:

  • Think about your target customers – you need to write for them
  • Describe the area and highlight things to see and do – both on and off-site
  • What things are there appealing for families (beaches, zoos and theme parks)?
  • What things would appeal to couples (wine-tasting, golf, gourmet dining)?

To enter your advert online, you will need to have ready:

  • Full details of your property
  • The distance from the nearest main town
  • Images of your property to create your gallery
  • Your rental prices
  • Your contact details - please put these in the contact area only, not in any headings or descriptive/pricing text. Please note that customers wishing to email you do so from the secure contact form at the bottom of your advertisement
  • For annual set fee advertising, your tva or siret number if applicable

A note about images

Attractive, bright and clear images of your property do the selling for you! Here are our top tips:

  • Take your image on a bright day and from an attractive angle.
  • Our advert layout lends itself to standard landscape images – sorry, we don't accept portrait or panoramic pictures
  • Include the swimming pool if you have one and arrange garden furniture attractively
  • Include a selection of internal images to reassure prospective guests
  • If there are people in any of the images, you require their written consent to use the image. Parental consent is needed for images of children.
  • Images must be supplied in JPG format
  • Images need to be at least 1000 pixels wide x 650/800 pixels deep

A note about videos

Videos are another great way to show off your property at its best. Here are our top tips:

  • Ensure your recording device is up to taking tip-tip quality video, including good sound.
  • Prepare your property for your video shoot. We recommend laying the dining table and making up the beds for example.
  • Get a script ready to guide viewers round your property and end up on an upbeat note, such as 'We look forward to welcoming you to your home from home in Brittany.'
  • Plan your route, starting from the outside and working through the rooms methodically.
  • And when you're ready, upload your video to YouTube and copy and paste the link into the video field in your owner admin area.
