In Perpignan, the fire of St Jean is a typical Catalan tradition. An evening of celebration that takes place once a year, the day of summer solstice. The flame of Canigou, symbol of St Jean in Catalonia, is primarily a message of brotherhood and love.
Five days of festivities - first begun in 1701 - celebrating the town’s patron saint. Includes fireworks, bullfights, music and the highlight of the Catalan Procession of the Sea. Contact (00 33) 4 68 82 15 47 for information.
