Aquitaine Walking

With its variety of landscapes, Aquitaine is particularly well suited to walking. Following the GR routes, red and white for long distance, yellow for local and blue for PR routes, the region can be enjoyed to its full extent. With Aquitaine's many regional natural parks, such as the Landes de Gascogne, you can discover both natural beauty and cultural delights. The Mios-Bazas trail from the Arcachon Basin south east towards Gascony is a particularly scenic route. Guided walks through the Pyrenees are available but whilst rewarding can be quite strenuous. Amongst these is a spectacular walk climbing up the Holzarte Gorge, crossing the rope bridge and walking to the head of the gorge to enjoy the fabulous views of the surrounding mountains. And of course a visit to the local restaurant or bar is a great way to finish your trek!
