There are many hiking and marked trails available in Normandy and it is possible to enjoy walking and hiking just about anywhere in the region. The coast path alone covers more than 300km extending from the Bay of Mont St Michel to the edge of the Cotentin marshes. If you want to cross the Mont St Michel Bay, be sure to go with a guide as the quick sands can be treacherous. Alternatively, there's fine scenery on the Sentier des Douaniers on the Cotentin coast - head to Carteret and pick up the trail heading north. The GR network covers most of Normandy's outstanding scenery and, on a smaller scale, Tourist Offices will be able to suggest interesting local circuits to help walk off Normandy's rich cuisine!
